Apologies in advance if I'm breaching some unwrtten rule by mentioning a certain someone but my curiosity is killing me.
I've been amusing myself the last couple of days by going back and reading the threads from the earliest days of this board. Being fairly new here it was quite disconcerting at first to look at this proto board. There seemed to be about 6 members and the average thread had about 4 posts. Unless Scojo was involved, in which case it had 4 reasonable posts and 27 by him ranting.
I'd seen him mentioned - and had the dubious honor of having someone accuse me of being him on my first night on the board - but I could never really believe that he was as bad as people made him out to be. Boy was I wrong.
In several(hundred) of his posts he mentions a Dredd movie script he was writing and people were critiqueing it, much to his annoyance. Which brings me to the point of this post. I'm intrigued. Is there any way to see this script or has it been excised completely. The impression I got was that it was available for anyone to read at some point. If any of the longer standing members can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. And I promise never to bring him up again.
I think this thread should end here.
he had issues.
but these days here, at least he seems to be in a better place.
but we are forgiving.
why not drop him PM, and ask, i would imagine he would enjoy your interest.
Although I do not have experience of this user I do of several similar people on other boards.
Trust me, you want nothing to do with them.

I'm pretty sure Sc*j* posted the thing in full (plus several exciting revisions!) to alt.comics.2000ad, which means that Google Groups has probably preserved it for posterity. (//http://groups.google.co.uk/groups/search?hl=en&as_q=&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=10&scoring=&lr=&as_sitesearch=&as_qdr=&as_mind=1&as_minm=1&as_miny=2009&as_maxd=1&as_maxm=1&as_maxy=2009&as_ugroup=alt.comics.2000ad&as_usubject=screenplay&as_uauthors=&safe=off)
Be warned, however, that there is no real way to do justice to the sheer, brain-melting, embarrassingly amateur nature of these efforts which manage to simultaneously show no grasp of plot, pacing, dialogue, or even a real understanding of the source material.
This thread will probably earn us a visit from the little twat under a new alias, since he seems to lurk here on a regular basis (given the number of times he mentions something to do with this board over on a.c.2k) and any reference to his precious screenplays seems to embolden him.
Ho hum ...
Jim

Er, sorry. I'll check out that google link though. As someone who has at times aspired to a career in writing - although in no way having such a deluded sense of my own geatness as this guy seems to have, in fact binning most everything I write as amateurish tripe. But what the hell I enjoy the struggle - I'm intrigued by your comments as to whether I may have found something even worse than my own efforts. Heres hoping.

Humm I would suggest that you remember the lessons on Jurrasic Park.

Yeah me too.
Some people see Sc*j* with every new and slightly querky poster.

Really,
really wrong

Why, it sounds like you need to enter the short story competition Faplad. It'll do your literary career prospects the power of good.
It's where William Shakespeare got started you know.

there are some chunks of it here//http://groups.google.com/group/alt.comics.2000ad/browse_thread/thread/d14aadb91999a124#, a thread in which he seems to be claiming credit for the Judge Minty pics.
Christ on a cracker! The internet is one fucking scary place sometimes!
Okay, I tried Jims link but I just got a bunch of people talking about the screenplay. Not Jims fault, I'm sure it's probably there somewhere but I'm terrible at this internet lark and navigating any but the most simple of sites is beyond me.
Dans link was a little more help. Here I found excerpts from the script - or should I say scripts cos I'm now getting the impression he wrote two - and I have to say they are everything people said they were. I now don't feel so bad about my own crappy efforts. Have to say though that Scojo comes across as being genuiney disturbed at times. One person accuses him of having Narcissistic Personality Disorder and while I wouldn't normally feel comfortale chucking that kind of comment around about someone I've never met it does seem inceasingly, scarily, like a distinct possibility as the posts go on.
So yes, what I've read of the script has indeed been shit, but I feel a little bad about bringing it up now. My instinct now is to feel sorry for the guy rather than mock him.
On a slightly lighter note, Kerrins suggestion that I enter the short sory competition got me thinking and I've scrawled what seemed like an instant classic as I was writing it. Unfortunately, it's about 3 times the permissable length and the finale actually contradicts the first paragraph. Oh well. A little pruning required methinks.
