Perhaps 2000ad brawl, with every charachter ever.... the possibilites would be endless
rogue vs. Alpha
Niokolai Dante vs. Nemesis the Warlock
Bad Jack Keller vs. Kano!?
etc. etc.
Satanus: The Game. You go around murdering many people in many different historical and space settings. In the last level you have to off the evil dictarors Bish-Zor and Digglon who have gone dutch on a massive space tank.
FUN!
Sim Mega-City
Slaine: Grand Theft Dragon.
I've been thinking lately how perfectly Nikolai Dante would work as a videogame.
It would be a God of War/Prince of Persia: Sands of Time-style 3rd person combat/platformer following the narrative of the comic series exactly. Dante's first appearance, fighting off the Tsars' soldiers in the Imperial seductresses boudoir would form the tutorial level, and you would gain the bio-blade abilities and Huntsman rifle (which would introduce ranged combat) as you progressed through the game. The Romanov Crest would provide technical data, hints and mission objectives etc, as well as providing a neat explanation for your regenerating health.
Bosses could include the white army reiver, Hawksmoore, Count Pyre and the Romanov twins Alexandr and Alexandra.
Bonus levels could include short flight sections piloting the Romanova Eagle, or perhaps letting you play as one of the other Romanovs. The graphics would be sort of cel-shaded and would be based on Si's artwork.
Although I never really played em I always liked the idea of a vast third-person online Dredd thing where you'd be a Judge and sort of...go through all these big mega-city events. Have to hole-up during the apocalypse war, battle zombies, etc etc. You'd only occasionally encounter Dredd and famous types like that. And it would be like...check it out, there's Dredd...
...like Jesus in Ben Hur.

I just had a fantastic image of Jesus saying 'check it out, there's Dredd' ..
Years ago, when Half-Life 2 came out, I thought an Apocalypse War scenario would make for a good game. Not a novel idea, as I'm sure anyone who's played HL2 or Medal of Honor type games has thought much the same. Anyway...
You'd be a Rookie heading in to the Halls of Justice one morning, and after wandering around, drinking in the atmos, you'd take a combat exam, which'd be a weapons training level, then a nice Lawmaster training bit.
Suddenly disaster strikes, East Meg missiles hit MC1. You find your way out of the ruins and set about progressing through the city, encountering Blockmaniacs, Sentenoids, Rad-Sweepers, Sov troops etc, and hooking up at times with Citi-Def units and other Judges. Partly mission based, and partly just making your way through the ruins, you'd take part in events such as getting the CJ out of the city, regaining Weather Control, and accompaning Dredd on the Strato-V to EM-1.
Tooling around on a Lawmaster (in some levels), and scavenging ammo against the backdrop of a city in chaos, with intermitent orders from Comm, and grim news broadcasts, is my idea of a fun MC-1 game.
I just remembered that I thought a cute idea would be that you'd come across a Tek lab with early Mechanismo prototypes, and you'd spend a level with your brain plugged into a Mechanismo (remote controlling it) in order to destroy heavy opposition so you could progess. Hell, now that I think about it, you could stumble across a Land Raider, and a Manta Tank too! Why not? :-p
MEGA-CITY MONOPOLY.
QuoteSlaine: Grand Theft Dragon.
I didn't think you like Slaine that much.
QuoteI've been thinking lately how perfectly Nikolai Dante would work as a videogame.........
I like your idea. It seems you've been nursing this one for awhile. Very well thought out and I almost want to see that happen.
Do you have a plan for Slaine?
Since playing "Total Overdose" which indroduces a system of making time run back to the moment just before your character bites the dust. --Reminds of me of the one time Slaine actualley got killed in battle in Slaine : Time-Killer-- So you get another chance to live again, but only if you been collecting skulls. There's also the illusion of slowing down time taken from "Max Payne" which seems applicable to Slaine. Given his applitude for speed in battle and then there's the Loco moves. Which are like magical battle abilites. For instance "The El Mariachi" : As you are now holding twin guitar cases that are concealed machine guns. "The Golden Gun" which appers your hand for limited amount of time deliver instant death from afar. "The El Toro" Which allows you to Trample foes under foot like a raging bull. There are more of these and I could go on. These sound alot like those Celtic miltary manuevers taught to Slaine by Scáthach (or her equivelent!) otherwise this games alot like a poor man's Grand Theft Auto. As "Total Overdose" is not quite as generous to you as it's original predessor. The Mexican City where it's set is devided into smaller sections which need to load before you can cross over to them. The only time you see a map is when you have crossed a border. So it's easy to get lost in town. If your sent on a misson ouside town, then you will arrive there after a short cut scene. You can't actually walk or drive there. Sight-Seeing a non no. Anytime you go for dip in the ocean, your instantly returned to the shoreline with a warning.
Regarding the "Grand Theft Auto" game signature. Stealing and hijacking cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, planes and Godpleton's earlier suggestion. I'm sure if their idea is like mine. But I have thought of the realistc applications of trying do the same thing in a game where all those modern contrivances are replaced by horses, dinosaurs, chariots, ice skiffs, ice towers, sky blades, cloud Curraghs, dragons. for a short while, I thought this might diffcult to pull off. Like how would slaine reach a flying boat from the ground in the first place. He might already be there as a bodyguard or passenger or he could jump from the back of his dragon. I guess it could really work like in the original game in this respect. How might a mere babarian wrestle control of flying ship if he can't fly one himself. Maybe he could poke the Drune lord with a goading rod or knock out the steersman and take over from him.
SD Agents
Mutant powered bounty hunters, how cool would that be, RPG/Fallout/mass effect Style, pick your mutation/skills.
Yeah, a first person shooter SD game.
Hunt bounty, travel to different planets etc....
Do it.
I'm always saying this when the topic comes up, but an ABC s game would rock my socks off, done properly.
The draw would be that you could switch between team members as and when you needed to, setting the others to lay down covering fire, attack, defend or what have you in the meantime. Pinned down by a pesky sniper that you can't get to? Switch to Joe Pineapples and take him up to an opposing rooftop to take care of it. Being attacked by demonic enemies impervious to your weapons? Switch to Deadlock and have him enter the ethereal plane for a little hack n' slash. Come up against a heavily-defended roadblock? Have Mongrol soften up the defences then send Mek-Quake in tank form crashing right through the middle.
Etc, etc. You get the idea, I'm sure.
now THAT would be a fearsome game.
It's always easier (as Star Wars has proved time and time again) to stretch a universe around a pre-existing engine. If so, surely Fable II's engine would be a sodding good base for some game. Strontium Dog would be damn good in that sense. Third person - open-worlded, roaming planets for bounties and suchlike. Dante could also work beautifully like that.
I know this isn't 2000AD based but, I have become accustumed to watching lots of the classic, vintage " Lost in Space" episodes. Since it's been colourised and that now that I've seen the first episode where they finally leave the one alien planet that they've been stranded on for so long....
It would make a interesting game if it's based on this one here.

Enemy Infestation. Which is abit like "Fallout". Except your a team of colonists trying to fight off aliens infesting their Luna Base, Planetarium and Oceanarium. Each team member has a set of their own stats and speical abilities that make them unique to each other.
Well after reading this. --Quoted from the "Lost in Space" Wikipedia Entry--....
QuotePlot
In 1997, the Earth suffers from overpopulation and natural resource depletion. Professor John Robinson (Guy Williams), his wife, Maureen (June Lockhart), their children, Judy (Marta Kristen), Penny (Angela Cartwright), Will (Billy Mumy), and their friend and pilot, Major Don West (Mark Goddard), are chosen to travel on the Jupiter 2 to Alpha Centauri to search for a habitable planet for mankind to colonize.
After the Robinsons are placed in suspended animation, but before the launch, staff medical doctor / foreign double agent Dr. Zachary Smith (Jonathan Harris) sneaks aboard on a sabotage mission. He reprograms the ship's robot B-9 (voiced by Dick Tufeld) to destroy the ship shortly after it leaves Earth. He becomes trapped during launch, however, and his extra weight throws the Jupiter 2 off course, causing it to encounter a meteor storm. The robot's rampage causes the ship to become lost.
The Robinsons are often placed in danger by Smith, who is by turns a villain or an indigent. In the second and third seasons, Smith's role assumes a less evil overtone - although he continues to display many character defects. In "The Time Merchant", Smith travels back in time to before the Jupiter 2 launch, changing his fate. He learns that without his weight altering the ship's course, it would be destroyed. In an act of redemption, Smith elects to remain on board, thus saving the Robinsons' lives.
[edit] Cast
Doctor John Robinson: (Guy Williams,Disney's Zorro) The expedition commander, a pilot, and the father of the Robinson children. He is an astrophysicist who also specializes in applied planetary geology.
Doctor Maureen Robinson: (June Lockhart) John's biochemist wife. Her role in the series is often to prepare meals, tend the garden and help with light construction, while adding a voice of compassion. Her status as a doctor is mentioned only in the first episode.
Major Don West : (Mark Goddard) The military pilot of the Jupiter 2, he is Dr. Smith's intemperate and intolerant adversary. His mutual romantic interest with Judy was not developed beyond the first few episodes. In the un-aired pilot, "Doctor Donald West" was a graduate student astrophysicist and expert in interplanetary geology, rather than a military man.
Judy Robinson: (Marta Kristen) The oldest child, about 19 years old at the outset of the series. She planned a career in musical theater but went with her family instead.
Penny Robinson: (Angela Cartwright) A 13-year-old, she loves animals and classical music. She acquires a chimpanzee-like alien pet that made one sound, "Bloop." Whereas it is sometimes remembered by that name[2], Penny had named the creature Debbie. Most of Penny's adventures have a fairy tale quality, underscoring her innocence. She is also Dr. Smith's helpful mate.
Will Robinson. (Billy Mumy) A 9-year-old child prodigy in electronics. Often, he is a friend to Smith when no one else is. Will is also the member of the family closest to the Robot.
Doctor Zachary Smith: (Jonathan Harris) A specialist in environmental and intergalactic psychology, and an enemy agent, roles that are rarely mentioned after the initial episodes. His attempt to sabotage the mission strands him aboard the Jupiter 2 and results in its becoming lost. By the middle of the first season, the character becomes permanently established as a foolish, self-serving, impulsive, scheming coward. However, his maudlin ways and clever dialogue add a unique dimension. His best lines are in response to the "straight man" Robot.
The Robot: The Robot is a Model B-9, Class M-3 General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Control Robot, which had no given name. Although a machine endowed with superhuman strength and futuristic weaponry, he often displayed human characteristics such as laughter, sadness, and mockery as well as singing and playing the guitar. The Robot was performed by Bob May in a prop costume built by Bob Stewart. The voice was dubbed by Dick Tufeld, who was also the series' narrator. The Robot was designed by Robert Kinoshita, whose other cybernetic claim to fame is as the designer of Forbidden Planet's Robby the Robot. Robby appears in LIS #20 "War of the Robots."

[edit] Technology & Equipment
"Jupiter 2" redirects here. For Jupiter II, the second discovered satellite of Jupiter, see Europa (moon).
The Robinsons in suspended animation tubes. One of the most vital pieces of equipment was their environmental control robot B-9. The Robot was extremely strong, able to discharge strong electrostatic charges from his claws, could detect threats with his scanner, replicate exact duplicates of small objects like a pair of gloves and could even detect faint smells (in "One of Our Dogs is Missing"). He could both understand speech as well as speak. In episode 8 ("Invaders From The Fifth Dimension") the Robot claims the ability to read human minds by "translating emitted thought waves back into words".
The crew had a variety of methods of transportation. First, there was the two-deck, nuclear powered Jupiter 2 flying saucer spacecraft. One critical technology aboard the Jupiter 2 was the suspended animation "freezing tubes" which made interstellar space travel feasible. When they were on a planet, the crew used an amphibious tracked exploration vehicle called the "Chariot" that had clear body panels and roof, seismograph, scanner, solar batteries, a gun rack and "gun hatch." The space "Pod" -- a small spacecraft modeled on the Apollo Lunar Module -- was used to travel from its bay in the Jupiter 2 to destinations either on land or in space. On occasion, Prof. Robinson or Major West used what was then an exciting new invention: the jet pack.
For self-defense, the crew of the Jupiter 2 (including Will Robinson on occasion against his parents' wishes) had an "arsenal" of laser guns at their disposal, both rifles and handguns. The crew also employed a force field around the Jupiter 2 for protection while on alien planets. They also used small transceivers to keep in touch with each other when away from the ship.
The Jupiter 2 had technology that simplified or did away with mundane tasks. The "washing machine" took seconds to work cleaning, ironing, folding, and packaging the clothes in plastic bags. The ship had no light bulbs. Maureen said the lights were "transistorized," perhaps meaning they were electroluminescent or built from arrays of light emitting diodes. "Protein pills" (a complete nutritional emergency substitute for whole foods) were featured in "The Hungry Sea" (air date: 31 Oct 1965) and "The Space Trader" (air date: 9 March 1966). In this, Lost in Space was ahead of NASA and Pillsbury which later developed "Space Food Sticks."[3] Silver Reflective Space Blankets, a then new invention developed by NASA in 1964, were used in "The Hungry Sea" (air date: 13 Oct 1965) and "Attack of the Monster Plants" (air date: 15 Dec 1965).
On the other hand, sound and voice recording was less advanced, for example, using reel-to-reel tape recorders, and Prof. Robinson often put pen to paper to write journal entries in early episodes.
You can see that he Robinson Family plus the Robot have their own suignature abiliies. Except for the Youngest daughter who's been cedited with applitude in Music. Although her pet Monkey with big ears that might come in handy. Perhaps she animal kinship that could include alien creatures/chilfren.
Robot has ability to read minds by translating their thought patterns. Wondering this works animals and zombies. Wondering it mean s it detect the prsence of other behid a wall through their thought patterns. Probably no, that I think of it.
Mr Smith whom isn't really evil all the time, when he think he might get away wih it. Usaully relenting at the last moment. I'd make him the only computer A.I. controlled character and place a bann on the rest the family being player controlled just out right killing him or each other. It's a psych thing to kill other sentients unless they can find another way dealing with hostile life forms.
They could have many side missons while finding fuel and spare parts enough to leave in their saucer shaped ship and continue doing side missons in space until they reach Earth.
I guess it's waste bringing this up here, but did you know Billy Mumy --The Youngest Robinson-- was in charge of the "Lost in Space" comic book series.
Have you seen any of those?
aeroball could offer something. perhaps inferno.
a tweak of the current standards of sports games on the market. you add in the fights, and the idea of the grand theft auto world, so some of mean streets? lost the title with matt talon. could be a winner.
the idea of the sports game in the game world city setting. with teams or jump in and play stuff. i would say is a winner and given current crop of games, a style not ye employed.
other then the wonderful halo live game. which often rocks!
Defoe would be good for general mindless Reek blasting. Actually, a 2D run 'n gun would fit the bill pretty well in my eyes and would probably turn out better than a 3D rendered version.
It's probably a stretch and unless it's done really, really well it would bomb, but a Dredd MMO where YOU are the judge (or bounty hunter etc). I just think it would be cool and somewhat deadly to be able to explore Cursed Earth in all its radioactive glory but also get to travel across MC1. There may be a problem with having to arrest people rather than just kill everyone, but if they do it similar to Swat 4 then it could be quite addictive.
I totally agree than Dante would make for a great game full of swashbuckling fun and I think that the Prince of Persia gameplay would work well.
Cradlegrave point and click adventure!
Just kidding.

Oh yes.
And not just because I often find myself muttering "big jobs" as I destroy things.
In videogames I mean. Not for real. Although I kinda DO do that.
The team (or indeed TEAMS, remember all those fallen comrades, maybe unlockable Hitaki or Happy Shrapnel?) is pretty well-balanced in terms of abilities, lots of humorous dialogue too. Not forgetting the rather large roster of enemies. Who WOULDN'T want that "supergun" dude from Khronicles of Khaos" as a power-up? Mek-Quake delivering back-up bodies would also be a neat way of inserting "lives" into the mechanic without it seeming too much like, well, a videogame.

Your ideas are pretty sweet. Maybe Rebellion should get you to advise on this project? *crosses fingers*
For me Dredd, the ABCs, Dante and Stronts are all absolute no-brainers. Although maybe the first post, suggesting an all-out slug-fest between all-comers, a kind of 2000ad allstars fighting game would be a cute way to maybe soften the market for MORE games from twoth.

Interesting. How about not a beat-em-up, but a deathmatch game, done in first or third person. Each character has its own themed, quake-style arena. So you could have a Judge versus Rogue, Hammerstein versus Sam Slade, or a VC versus Mean Angel. Each character would have his own weapons/armour/abilities etc. You could play against the computer or a second (or third, or fourth) player.
It does sound pretty sweet to me, but this kind of thing may be a little old-fashioned these days.
Whilst playing this flash game called "Swords and Sandals".....//http://www.flashgore.com/games/29/swords-and-sandals-2-full-version.html Play it , it's very addictive for all it's simplcity. If you like those type of games.
....I was thinking of a Gladitorial game based on Slaine's arena battles in Gulagg, Cythrawl. It would be full 3d fighting game. Very modern in concept with a state of the art combat system.
You design you onw Gladiator. Either a human, perhaps Celtic warrior or on e of the monters of Cythrawl. You know those Orgots that looks like they could be pull aprt on a operati g table and fit togther in many diffrent configurations.
Whic would add abit morte variety to the game.
Slaine himself actualely never need to be in the game himself. No this couuld be set outside the continueity of the Slaine story lines.
The whole idea of this game is that you are gladiator thats been either been taken prioner by Cyrthon guards after stumbling across the city and arena while going on a excavating underground caverns and or you well known warrior taken from the surface world . One that belongs to one of the many free Northern European tribes wandering the surface in Slaine's time. or a monster like I mentioned already. They can buy better armour, weapons , learn new combat moves from trainers or other that Gladiator prisoners you imprisoned with inbetwent battles. You keep until you are over all champion and set free. Chances are that they might want to hold on to you if do make it to the top.
Quote from: "CraveNoir"It does sound pretty sweet to me, but this kind of thing may be a little old-fashioned these days.
Old fashioned is just retro with no social skills. I tells ya, It could work!
I'd say a GTA style Dredd game but as someone else said, I wouldnt want to actually play Dredd. Would much prefer him and the others turn up from time to time to help/guide you and give you the occasional "Nice work rookie"
New cases could really suit the mission based GTA model and of course you could pick up on random perps as you patrol round Mega City

Seeingas evry body normmally carries a gun, I think Slaine might be aloud his Leyser Pistol.

Oh god.
I'd forgotten about that. I admire Mills for his ability to attempt to latch onto the then-current trends, the role-playing etc. But I also really want to cry. Because of Bloodprow and the Leyser guns. Which were awful. Nice art in those books though.

I cannot agree more. And unlockable former warriors and supporting characters.
Although I admit that unlocking Ro-Jaws wouldn't have much gameplay possibilities opening up. Except toilet related ones obviously.....
