I'm going to have to get hold of this at some point for motion plus.

We really enjoy Wii sports and have been playing the Wii a bit again of late for Mario Kart.  Great fun.

It's awesome, I've been playing the swordfighting game all morning. I just made a Zatoichi Mii  :)

Yeh, we just played it some. Of the ones we've tried, swordfighting and archery are the best so far. Oh, I quite enjoyed the frizbee too. Heh.  ;)

Are these all new sports or just an extension of the Wii sports.

There are about ten sports in the game, all new apart from re-worked versions of golf and bowling. Great game. You really need two or more of the motionplus thingeymabobs though.

Got this today and played a few of them - the sword fighting is the standout game so far but cycling was bizarrely fun as well.

A really good sense of motion - can't wait for the first lightsabre game that uses the motion plus.

I think I'll get a second Motion plus so I can sword fight with Tiny Tips.

He claims he will "wipe the floor with me".

He's probably right.

Had this a while and love it!

I loved the golf in wii sports and this is x10 better... more courses and 18 holes each!

I'd have paid the cover price for the golf alone.

Always liked the bowling and love the archery.

Graphics are a bit basic but it's all just so much fun.

I don't think I play any other game as much as I play the wii sports games, can just keep coming back to them again and again.

Yeah we got this and have been LOVING it.
For some reason the canoeing puts the wife into fits of laughter. She's weird.

Anyway, works as a fun game on its own, but the kendo/swordfighting post pub with a few mates... the stuff of legend!!
Same way that the original wii sports made people go out and buy a wii after a go, this is gonna make wii owners fork out for the new control clip ons. As was said, Im weirdly enjoying the frisbee as well, especially the golf course variant. 3 on 3 basketball also a lot of fun.

As an aside I also have the Grand Slam Tennis for the motion plus which works really well. But best of all if you play as McEnroe your wii controller mic shouts abuse  :)

Not me.

The fundamental problem with the Wii is that to get the most out of it you need another three remotes (£105), another nunchuck (£15) before you even get to the bloody Motion Plus (£50 for two). And doesn't the Motion Plus just offer the level of control the Wii was originally pitched as providing in the first place? In fact the standard non-MPlus Wii remote has no real sensitivity - only detecting crude swings - which to me almost borders on false advertising on Nintendo's part.

I've been a bit of a Wii apologist in the past, as most gamers have turned against Nintendo, but I'm starting to get a bit fed now. I rarely ever play the Wii, and as much fun as the multiplayer games are, I'm f**ked if I'm paying out all that extra money for all the extra controllers. IMO without Wii Sports the Wii would have sunk without a trace years ago.

Sorry, rant over!

I can sort of see where you are coming from Radiator but it does seem to me to be distinctly odd to rant at a console because it's so much fun playing multiplayer with your mates around that it makes you go out and buy extra controllers!

In the Tips Household, we've survived perfectly well with one extra controller (pretty much a given for any console) and, when we do have big gatherings where we might like to play 3 or 4 multiplayer, we either get one of my multitudinous siblings to bring along a spare controller or use old Gamecube controllers which Nintendo have seen fit to support in various games (the bastards!).

Have to kinda agree with tipps there, I mean who hasn't gone out and bought extra guff of their consoles..

Thats kinda like buying a console and complaining that you actually then have to go and buy a game to enjoy it properly (OK it's not really that same).

My household has managed to survive with an extra controller and an extra nunchuck, and just recently got a wii+ attachment with the wii sports resort.

What would have been fantastic is if wii sports resort were available for online multiplayer, playing golf, bowling archery etc.. missed opportunity there.

It's not at all the same. I don't mind paying out for an extra controller or two, my main issue is that each remote costs more than a game.

My other issue is that the capabilities of the Wii's motion controls were totally oversold when it launched, and I think it's a bit cheeky of them to charge even more money for something which was kind of promised out of the box.

Well, I did say that when I said (OK it's not really the same)

As for being oversold on the motion control, I can't agree with that. When I got it I experienced just about what I expected.
Should the wii motion+ have been included in the original release, probably but not if it meant delaying release for a few years while they perfected it. I could use the same argument about Sony releasing the slimline PS3... Why not just release that first?
The reason why is because technology advances and manufacturers can upgrade equipment, make it better, make it smaller etc...

each remote costs more than a game
Well, I understand that Sony and Microsoft are developing their own motion controller for their machines. Will be interesting to see what the price of those are when they are available.

All I know is my son loves it and I really enjoy it too... granted I wouldn't call it a 'serious gamers machine' but then I'm not a serious gamer.

Aaah - the old definition of a "serious" gamer. That deserves a thread of it's own.

I recall when Wii first came out there was a bloke on the radio saying; "It's brilliant for having loads of your mates round and having a laugh and playing til three in the morning but it's not really for gaming."

And I had to wonder "What is that blokes definition of GAMING then?"

I don't think I was "oversold" on the motion control either when it was first launched; I can't ever feeling disappointed in the level of control that was offered straight out of the box.

Other things to remember are that the Wii actually came with a rocking good game in the box for it's paltry $179 price tag. Not many consoles do that.

And I effectively got Wii Play for a fiver when I bought my second controller; again, a bit of a bargain (love the shooting game and tanks and charge).

By 'serious gamer' I mean people who spend hours on Halo, or GTA or whatever compleating missions and campaigns and such.

I'd love to have the time to devote to those games but I don't, so dipping into wii sports for a game of golf or maybe a two player game with my son on a Mario game for half an hour suits me just fine.
