Title: Does Tharg actually read these suggestions?
Post by: Delingpole on 27 July, 2009, 03:01:24 PM
As a newbie I was just wondering. Do any of you old hands have any stories of suggestions from here that have actually materialised in print? Or is it just a way of letting us all vent our spleens or a forum for discussing "wouldn't it be great ifs"?

QuoteIn the case of Savage, which might be of interest to 2000AD Review readers, is the fact that I saw a poll on 2000adreview asking which characters you would most like to see back. Top was Ro-Busters and second was Savage.

Ach no, you Lordship, he asked if Tharg read the Suggestions.  Not his unconvincing replicant of an assistant/emissary.  Still interesting link, maybe CyberMatt has more of an influence on green-bonce than we suspected.

I reckon CyberMatt has Tharg in a vice-like headlock.

If Tharg does read suggestions and consider them, how about the return of

The Visible Man

Harry Twenty

Two blasts from the past deserving of a 21st century comeback.  :)

...or compromising snaps of the Mighty One accepting wads of cash from Mark Millar

Is that a euphemism? Because I'm thinking the simple "money shot" doesn't explain Mark Millar's 2000 AD career.

'Twas innocently envisaging a brown paper bag on a park bench there, Emperor.

I'd love to see Harry Twenty back- I've had a conversation with someone who actually pitched a fantastic idea that involved the use of Harry 20 that I believe would work a treat.

As for the Visible man- Check out the latest Zarjaz :

BUY IT HERE! (http://www.futurequake.co.uk/fq/shop.php)

But of course you have all bought copies by now...

right?

Ah, and there is the rub- you see I think I was a wee bit under the influence at the time, so I can't be 100% who I was talking to (apologies) I think it was an actual pro who was just daydreaming, but I would really like to think it is a real pitch and that Tharg in his infinite wisdom will say, okay.

I have (very)vauge memories of this too. I don't know if I was there for the conversation, or you told me about it afterwards though... I'm pretty sure it was your actual pro who told you. Who it was on the other hand, I have no recollection.

Damn you beer!

How about Tharg contacts Gerry Finley-Day and asks him to do a Harry Twenty sequel? Day was a great writer and it would be fantastic to have him back writing for 2000AD. I guess he must be retired from writing but given a good idea for a sequel it's possible he could consider writing Harry Twenty Returns!  :)

Pat Mills has brought back Bill Savage, updated Mach 1 with Greysuit so there must be a reasonable chance he can revisit Visible Man. The character was left stuck in space so he must have run out of space fuel. Time for a crash landing back on Earth?  ;)

Yeah, I assume that's after he's had a year long run on Green Lantern and Hellblazer, then it's Dr & Quinch and Halo Jones all the way.

And Zenith phase 5.  And Luke Kirby.  And Big Dave and the reanimated corpse of the People's Princess sorting out Al Queda.

A Squaxx can dream, eh?
