Title: Dr Who and Star Wars toy help wanted!
Post by: SmallBlueThing on 29 November, 2009, 10:11:54 PM
Now then- this is very much a last resort. Can anyone do either one of two things?

1. Point me to somewhere on the net where I can buy the Jon Pertwee 5" action figure for a reasonable price (ie NOT eBay/ FP), and also the 3-pack of Dr Who figures that includes the timelord and the welder's mask guy from '42'.
And again, but with the Republic Fighter Tank and AAT droid tank for Star Wars figures.

or 2. Tell me that they have one or some of the above in a shop near them, allow me to paypal/send them the cash+ postage and then send them to me?

A five year old and a seven year old are relying on you! WON'T YOU THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?!?!

Thank you.

I'll have a look in my thrill-merchant.  They have stuff like this and I can always find out and let you know the price.  PM me or FB me to remind me nearer teh time (Wed/Thurs) and I'll do it.  If they have 'em, I'll let you know and sort it out.

No, that's brilliant! Thanks Mike. If I had hair, I'd be tearing it out about now!

I can send you some hair if that will help. I have plenty of hair.

Ordinarily, I'd sink to the standard board level and say something like "yes, but it's all on your mum's back" or something. But you've always been just lovely to me and we soon have to share a bus! So, instead, I will say:

Why thank you Mr Godpleton, but that is unnecessary. My modelling of the Right Said Fred look suits me absolutely fine. But again, thank you for your kind words.

Are you sure? I have spare ear, nasal (and indeed navel) hair. I'll pop it in a bag and trust you not to use black magic on me. Hours of fun for the nippers.

Love to help you out there, SBT, but the two Star Wars vehicles you mention are completely absent in my neck of the woods.  Don't think I've ever even seen the Republic Tank in the flesh.  The AAT you're  looking for, I assume it's the 'full size' one (roughly the right scale for the Battledroids as seen in Episode 1)  and not the rather naff mini-rig version?  'Cos those are everywhere.

UPDATE:

I've managed to get the AAT tank!

The three packs of Dr Who figures were a tenner in my local Tesco last week. I'm pretty sure I saw the ones you are talking about there SBT.

I'll be going there later and can check for you.

Congrats to all involved in this fine co-operation, and especially to SBT for panicking nice and early. Get that Christmas shopping done now, Earthlets! You won't regret it!

Yep, I've now crossed the AAT and the 3 figure pack off the list! Many thanks to Worldshown for his part in all this.

Now then, anyone passed a Republic Fighter Tank on their travels? Or a Jon Pertwee?

(Trout- getting the xmas shopping done "early" is great- I picked up a PS2 for £12 down town yesterday!)

Does that mean you're sorted for this stuff?

Y'know, I think the Republic Tank is the only vehicle made for the 3 3/4" figures that has only previously appeared in a computer game.  It used to be the Outrider from Shadows of the Empire, but that now appears in the skies of Mos Eisley in the Star Wars Special Edition.  Plenty of the wee Titanium ships come from games, and plenty of the 3 3/4"ships come from the comics and cartoons alright.  Maybe its about to appear in the cartoon?

SBT, getting Rose's main present in October meant we got a great bargain on a brilliant doll's house. It's made of wood, has four levels, eight rooms and loads of furniture, and only cost £45.

I can't wait until Max is old enough for Star Wars stuff!
