Okay, you guys have always been awesome...here's another cry for help.
I seem to remember this being asked/answered, but I can't find it now. I just started a blog on blogspot and I want to put links up. i noticed most of you guys have, say, FutureQuake or Fractal Friction as links, not some super long crazy site address. How on Earth do you do this? Thanks so much in advance.
Locust, I think that the blow is what you need.
It is to do with the square brackets used as the tags by the board.
This one:
[url#=#http://locustsofdeath.blogspot.com/#]#Locusts Of Death!
Has a pair of # where I've amended the format to make it work. Basically I've made the opening bracket contain the link by adding the = and by moving the closing square bracket it will recognise the text you add and make that the visible bit.
Locusts Of Death! (http://locustsofdeath.blogspot.com/)
Hope it helps.
Excellent! Thanks so much Bolt!
Not a problem. Amend that Sig line!
Ah, beautiful! You're a prince, Bolt!
Thanks Bolty, been able to ammend my own sig line in a similar manner.
*Sob.*
Feeling left out here.
I want a sig line.
But I don't have a link to put in it. :( Any suggestions??
Get one for those novels of yours! And all your other writing!
As much as I said I never would, I went ahead and started one. I need to post more often though.
I can't seem to get it to work for me. I've copied exactly the format Bolt wrote out for Locusts link and just changed the http address and the title but it just keeps coming out on my posts as the way it is typed with all the hash signs and everything. I've tried everything. I've even tried copying and pasting the exact link for locusts blog into my own signature and it still comes out as just a line of code, rather than the lovely link locusts gets on his.
What am I doing wrong?? It is the signature box you are supposed to paste it into isnt it?
I'm not sure what the # bits are for in Bolt's explanation. I've always do it by clicking the "insert hyperlink" button and then putting an = sign and the URL in the first bracket, with the text as it should appear between the brackets.
eg: clicking link gives this:(I've removed first square bracket so it remains visible and doesn't actually do anything)
url]
amend to:
url=copied URL link] text you want to see
QuoteLocust, I think that the blow is what you need.

Or just copy this code in:
2000AD forum
and change the link and text accordingly.
That's a much simpler way of explaining it! :-[
Thanks guys, I'm dim when it comes to these things, didn't realise Bolt had put the hash marks in just to highlight certain parts of the code. I'll have another go later on!
Aw Pete, I thought I'd gotten away with that too...
Ha! Nothing gets past the hawk-like eyes and cat-like reflexes of Pete Wells. Notice how I swoop in only 8 days after you posted!
