Title: Boarder's old names
Post by: JayzusB.Christ on 04 January, 2010, 07:09:19 PM
Is there any way to find out what previous board-names other posters have had? Just curious after looking back at the Greatest Thread Ever thread.  Me, I've been jayzusb.christ for about 7 years - before that I was Jayzus B. Christ but forgot my password.

Been lurking since mid 2008 and only posting since mid 2009 (I know, I typed a lot of shite in a short time).  Always had the same user name, but that's because I've been fortunate enough to have a near unique name.  I may have originally not had a space.

Gosh, how exciting.

I've really only posted because I want to find out hte answer to your question, Jayz.

I added a capital D after a few months because it offended my grammatical sensibilities.

I like being all lower case for some reason...always been a locust on any forum I've been on.

Mike I can't believe you've made over 3000 posts in about six months!!! That's got to be some kind of record!!! I've been a member here over two years and still havent made 500....! But then, I'm not the most sociable of people..... ;)
I've only ever been Van Dom on here. I've had loads of different usernames for various forums down the years but Van Dom is my favourite one. Came about because I'm a huge Jean Claude Van Damme fan, my surname starts with the letters Dom... Just popped into my head one day and I love it (even with the V.D initials!)
Locusts - what was the inspiration for locusts? Do you just like locusts or is there a deeper motivation behind it...?

This is a good question Jayzus!

Good one about your name Van Dom - never would have guessed!

Ha, well I am fascinated by the little fellers we call short-horned grasshoppers (I am an amateur entomologist of sorts, I guess you could say...i collect bugs and look at them a lot) and the swarming phase they go through. So weird what will set them off, one second they're friendly little jumpers and then they're hungry and killing livestock!

In the States we had a fake news newspaper called the Weekly World News. Once, when I was standing in line at the grocery store, I saw the headline 'Locusts of Death!' staring back at me. The article detailed how a swarm of locusts ravaged the countryside of some third world country, consuming crops, animals and a farmer (he fought bravely, the writer mentioned - that always makes me laugh). Anyway, that's that.

Hate earwigs though. Absolutely hate them. Only bug I will flush - the rest get tossed in a tank or outside.

If that was my name i would change it to Jayzus F. Christ.

I have seen a Locust swarm when i was in the car with the rest of my family aged about 8.I cant recall if this was in the US or Australia but afterwards the car was covered in splatted Locusts. It was quite a sight driving through what seemed like millions of them.

I hate Spiders but i still wont kill them or even harm them so usually the pint glass and the sheet of paper trick works for me.

I've just changed my name into my real name, and also added a new avatar and personal message, to avoid any confusion.

Changed you avatar to blank? Or is my browser playing up? Where are you?

Keep on meaning to change my board name which I've had since I registered in 2004 (too much lurking, not enough posting). I think I originally intended for it to be used as a password but just went with it, though I have had a letter published with that name. Not the greatest initials.

Well, i fucked that one up.  I tried to change me name to Mick Groady and add a picture of ro-jaws and everyone would have had a right old laugh and i would have been the funniest person on the internet.  but it didn't work.

Barring a brief period where I forgot my password and created a new account without the underscore, I believe that I've always been Jim_Campbell, a username which cunningly disguises my true identity. Can you break the code, Earthlets?!

Cheers!

It's a tough one alright.  The difficulty is only slightly alleviated by the fact that the username is always underlined and the underscore can't be seen.

Ooh now I see it. Never saw it before, but now every time I see a post of yours my eyes are drawn...right...to...that..damn... underscore.

I used to be something else, but changed it after an unfortunate run-in (offboard)with a Mentalist NutBag, who got unhealthily interested in my wife and I, after friending me due to recognising me from here. I've been SmallBlueThing ever since. Though some people keep referring to me by my non-superhero name and the board computer banks still think I'm THE OTHER from time to time when I post, which is alarming.

I think I started out as PG Tips (PG being my initials so it was obviously an old nickname) then Mister Tips and then the much missed PVS referred to my as a dinosaurily old Tiplodocus one day and I thought - that's a cracking name so I drew an avatar to match and everything.

Another name some people refer to me by is Jabba but there must be a 1001 of them on the internet and Star Wars lost it's ;ustre for me some years back so I don't use that much - though some chums still don't know my real name.

Started out as Tulkas (old Quake 2 name) mainly due to panicking for anything better when i first signed up as it was my first ever forum sign up.

Changed to Swimini Tulkas for the longest period as a tribute to Brendan McCarthy.

Then recently changed it to Dunk! after last years Brumcon as i felt such a prat when introducing myself as Swimini Tulkas to folks.

I was flipr until I forgot my password, then became flip-r until I changed my email and got my password sent to .com instead of .co.uk so I had to become flip-r mk2.
