Title: Fear The Badge
Post by: COMMANDO FORCES on 05 April, 2010, 03:13:21 AM
Does anyone know anything about this fanzine that was supposed to launch many moons ago. I mentioned this up Hi-Ex! and so have searched through the 'Cellar of Dredd' to find the rough proofs that I was sent.

It was the brainchild of Paul Dick who lived in Kirkcaldy at the time of sending me the bits I have. It was to be a charity fanzine that would launch in 1997. It's core stories would revolve around the worlds of Dredd, Strontium Dogs and Robo Hunter.

It was to contain the following strips:-

DOGTAGS Hundreds of stronts lost their lives during the New Church Final Solution but they live on in my memories.... by TH Dix & Paul Dick
REVENANT You can't keep a good Judge down by Dean Ormston, Paul Dick & James Boswell
TROUBLED WATERS Welcome to Coastal Patrol. It ain't Baywatch creeps! by Scott Newell & Paul Dick
RAMBRO: FIRST BRUD He's one baaad black sheep by TH Dix, Paul Dick & Stuart Mack

There are many more strips but it would be pointless just doing one massive list.

So does anyone have any more info on what happened to this?
I did a search on the web and found this one mention, look at the words under Dredd's badge. http://www.melted.com/korner/2000AD.html (http://www.melted.com/korner/2000AD.html)

I do, and probably have one of the very few copies that were ever produced.

If you want to know more message me.

Any chance of getting this scanned and putting it online?

My stuff is just photocopied preview stuff and no actual stories, so if I copied it onto here it wouldn't really help that much.
We need Stewart, if only he'd stop riding about on his bike  ::)

No that's not me, i did strips called mopad nomad scripted by Paul lister, St. Judge and the Dragon by George Cordeiro, The Maintenance Man by Paul Dick (page 1 : http://homepage.eircom.net/~meanwhile2/pages/06mm01.html ) and a load of fill in bits.( eg: http://meanwhiletv.blogspot.com/2010/07/middenface-mcnulty-penciling-page2tif.html )

Its funny you mentioned it was launched in 1997, but i did these in 1994!

It didn't.
The failure of Fear The Badge was one of the catalyst for Class Of 79

thanks for the reply Logan, class of 79 was a quality fanzine, the printing was lovely, was their talk a while back to bring it back?
