Title: Comic Jam @ Kingdom Of Adventure, Kirkcaldy
Post by: KingdomOfAdventure on 11 July, 2010, 07:26:38 PM
What is the Comic Jam, you may ask?  Well, we open our doors and tables to anyone who likes to create, to come and meet others who have the pen and ink bug.  Everyone draws the first page or panel to a story then, passes their work over for someone else to continue the story.  This goes on until each page has made it's way around the group, for about 5 or 6 passes for a complete mini-story!
What we do with the finished product is completely up to those who participate!  Ashcans, mini comics, trades; there's no limit!
We understand that participants may want to keep their original work and we're happy for everyone to take their work home.  1 condition we scan it first!

The Jam is held on the last Saturday of each month and starting at 12 noon we're building up to 24 Hour Comic Book Day on Saturday October 2nd!  Paper provided as are pencils and erasers.

Kingdom Of Adventure is a comic book and game store in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland which hosts regular events for gaming customers and is looking at adding comic events to the calendar.  We held 24 Hour Comic Book Day last year and plan to again this year.  We have also just started up a monthly Comic Book Review night (Last Thursday of the month) and hope that the Comic Jam will inspire new people to pursue their interests.

The first of these Jams will be held on Saturday 31st July at 12:00.

Let me know if you plan on coming along!

Cheers,

Dave

Excellent idea!

Cheers Rich.  Yeah I am a little worried about that....  Definitely will have to put a hazard warning on them if I end up scanning them in.

David- Make sure that folks contributing on the day know it has to be clean- this is a great idea and I'd love to be able to take part.

This is the sort of comic shop I'd love to live near.

Yeah that did cross my mind and does avoid it degenerating into nonsense (fun as it is).  The idea is to push more people into thinking about 24 Hour Comic Book Day as although we had a full attendance last year for it only about half of them were actually serious about it.

Cheers for the praise too Dave, you need to actually come up and visit to see if I merit it!

The next Comic Jam is on Saturday the 28th August starting at noon.

It's going to tie-in with a certain Top Secret Project but not exclusively.

Hope to see folks there!
