Hiya,
been beefing up the model of the HoJ for Minty, probably going to add a little more detail around the tail feather structure and tweak the lit windows a little, but fairly happy with it.

Thats a gorgeous piece of artwork there and nice skinning too.
How many polys does that weigh in at Steve ?
Beeeeeeautiful!
Steve, you're wasted in whatever it is you do (unless it's some sort of CG jiggery-pokery, natch).
Very imposing!
Looks fuckin' great but is it wrong that I'm expecting Stallone to come out?

I knew you'd say that.
Cheers!

Astounding! And if Stallone does come wandering out can it be hi-ex and incendiary all the way? :)
That is brilliant. *So* looking forward to seeing the finished film!
Gumpty,
it's around 750,000 triangles, although there's a fair amount in the plinth it sits on that's off screen - and I could probably optimise it a fair bit.
Cheers, yeah it's a lift of some of the concept art from the movie book - although I think I've increased the scale from the movie.
There is some lovely concept art in there. Shame about the film itself.
Wow. Very cool. :o
Humungus ! :o
It looks brilliant. Really realistic actually. It actually looks like a photograph to me, although to be fair, I seem to be easier impressed by the realism of some CGI than most people. I'm not sure if that's me or them though as I think some people just get a bee in their bonnet over CGI and just assume CGI=bad and see it as such regardless of the actual quality.
Thanks very much.
I've got the utmost respect for practical models and effects, and those who do them - but it's horses for courses really.
I always love to see a physical model, but I think sometimes the CGI-bashing is unwarranted, sometimes not.
I remember someone slagging off a model shot on one occasion just because they thought it was CG...
Love it Steve. Can't WAIT for Minty!
Gorgeous stuff!
As Commando Forces said I think imposing is the word. Bloomin' lovely stuff. Looking forward to this film a great deal
Very nice indeed!
Really, really nice !
Really brilliant.
Should be yellow though.
Heh.
Yellow's not really in our palette for Minty.
Closest you might get is the shield being a bit bronze.
Cheers,
Steve
Top notch work there.
filip
Cheers, have to do some paying work today, but already started work on sorting out the surrounding area.

Please don't make it a 'teal and orange' movie!
Well, I've been tinkering with the grading all the way through and still not really settled on anything yet.
I don't a hint of teal so much, it's the orange that bothers me more in that palette.
It certainly won't be as teal and orange as Transformers 2

(although I think that blog is an overreaction and if you blanket ban it, it's just as bad as overuse)
Certainly the cursed earth is going to be pretty desaturated, although sepia-ish would be another cliche...
What a great blog that linkie is.
And there was me thinking you were talking about ducks in movies.
I've read that blog post and I think it's bang on. Grading can help a film, but too many slap on generic grading now, like people who use Lomo kit/filters but don't really know why they're oversaturating everything. TV's all gone like this, and so many movies rip out all of the colour, as in TF2, but for no real reason. Iron Man 2, to me, just looked dull and barran because of the grading.
Arsom! will CF get a cardboard press out and build version of this?
Hmmm Papercraft Hall of Justice - that's an idea.
That is astounding!
Jealousy reigns in Woolly block... ;)
Cheers Woolly.
Still working on the scene, but paying work's going to have to take priority for the moment...
-Steve
Looks fantastic (I think you've probably gathered that by now), Steve.
Out of curiosity, are you working on any other Mega City landmarks or blocks..? I love a block with a roof garden, me.
I've seen Des O'Connor block amongst the structures. My Favourite!

Steven
Outstanding!
Nice to see John Wagner block on the left!
I do miss the Palais de Boing... whatever happened to it?
I don't think it's ever been used since - Boing itself was mentioned as the BoingBowl in the Total War strip.
All the blocks in that still are going to go under a renovation to get them up to snuff, but I expect the names will stay the same ;)
Blimey, what a great mega-city scape. Very convincing, too.
jaw-droppingly amazing! :)
Cheers, it was done for hi-ex when we were just starting out on Minty.
Steve got it printed on canvas as well as Mick McMahon pic of Minty that he kindly drew for us and it was raffled off for charity.
That's the dogs nadgers, dangly ones right down to the ground.

I'm sure it was a boarder who got it too

It went all rural...

:D
Oh wow! Is there a Hi Res picture of that Mega City One landscape anywhere?
A thing of beauty is that landscape, well done all who created that. Alex Garland , Pete Travis et al are you seeing this ?
fantastic.
