Brum is two days -- it's going to cost you the same to get there and back regardless, but you'll have more time to flog stuffat Brum.

Don't get me wrong -- I really enjoyed Leeds last year but even with a hotel overnight, I think you've more earning potential across the two days at BICS.

Cheers!

Yes. Hopefully for longer than last year!

On the subject of which... are there any pre-Brum shenanigans on the Friday? I can get a stupidly cheap hotel room for the Friday night, but not the Saturday (which isn't a huge problem, since I can go home and come back on the Sunday).

Cheers!

Jim

When are they? I'd love to go to one - never been - but if I recall right one is on 16th October, which is my wedding anniversary.

If there is another one I might go, wherever it is, if the Hivemind thinks it is worth it?

I did both last year and enjoyed them both.

I'm biased about Leeds as it's the closest con to me.

One advantage of Leeds being one day, is that it seemed a bit more buzzy and immediate. You can't put anything off to the next day and no quiet period toward the end of Sunday (cause there's no Sunday). Leeds seemed very busy.

Both have great guest lists, so you'll be in good company which ever you do.

I can only make Leeds this year.

I'd love to make both, but I've got flights, hotels and parking at airport. It all adds up. :(

Don't get me wrong -- I enjoyed Thought Bubble, too, and I fully intend to go again this year. I'm just thinking that PJ has fixed costs where travel is concerned, so two selling days as opposed to one maximizes value from that expenditure, with only the added expenditure of an extra night in a hotel, although that is inexplicably expensive in a shit hole like Birmingham.

Cheers!

Well, I'm booked for bics (at least my flight is). Unless something dramatic happens, then I'm unlikely to hit leeds this year.

I wish I'd joined this forum long ago as then I would have "known" some people before I went to BICS (I actually had the table next to PJ last year- well next to the doors that were next to PJ. So more precisely next to the yawning vaccuum that sucked people away into the more exciting convention hall. Which is totally understandable cos it had massive scrap metal transformers and people in lycra). Wish I could go this year too as SIMON'S CAT IS THERE!!!! I had planned to go to Leeds this years with a deranged mechanical canine but unfortunately I won't be able to go to either as I'm in the North Americas by then, will have to try and make it to NYCC or summat I spose.

Have fun at both people, you shall have my intense envy.

I can't make BICS as my firstborn is due a week earlier.  Think that Bristol next year will be my next - and hopefully his!

Also: wife is coming with me to brum, so best behaviour. You're going to see a very subdued and polite PJ this time round...

Was gunna start a thread asking who was going to Leeds, thought I'd post here instead.

Getting a hotel for the saturday night, so going to make full use of the casino bar this time round . Love to meet some of you guys for a few beers, none of my mates I'm going down with are into 2000AD at all, unless I can get my mate Kev away from the wife 'n kids for a weekend.

Had any of you guys planned to go to the casino, sure that first 500 ticket stuff is bollocks anyway? Don't think the drinks were too expensive if I remember rightly.

Leeds is a great night out.

After the con we go to a great bar called Sergent Peppers which is £12 to get in and then free drink all night (and it's in crawling distance of the Travel Lodge we stay at)  :D

The music in there is great too! :-)

I wanted to track the place down last year, but I was already half cut. I heard from a mate it's changed owners and its called Sweeny Todds or something now?

Cheers,
