Hi,
Matt Brooker aka D'Israeli is doing a talk as part of Sheffield wonderful 'Off the Shelf' annual festival. Thursday 28th October from 7pm in the Showroom. Any Sheffield board members fancy using it as an excuse for a meet up?
Anybody else welcome of course but Sheffield (or other South Yorkshire based) folk seem to be the practical option:

He's also doing a two day workshop at Hillsborough College but its for 15-18 year olds so even at my most optimistic I ain't making that!
...had to choose the year I'm not studying there didn't he - ?!
*sigh* give me a shout when he comes to Glastonbury - !
Well just got back from this and it was great fun. Matt gave an incredibly interesting talk on this 'War of the Worlds' 'Trilogy' which revealed much of the haphazard nature of the comics industry. It really covered a lot of ground and as anybody who reads his blog could guess was funny, intelligent and insightful by the bucket load.
Afterwards he was signing and selling bits and bobs and was kind enough to have a quick chat with me and he's an terribly nice fella.
Not sure if any other board folk were there but hopefully if they were they had a good time.

Did you spot anyone recording it? I'd love to have a sneaky peek.
Not that I saw I'm afraid. Hopefully if he enjoyed it its the kind of thing that might be seen at other festivals of a similar nature. This presentation was part of Sheffield's 'Off the Shelf' reading and writing event. Be there's something similar in Liverpool, there certainly used to be. If so why not try contacting the organisers and suggesting him?
FFS! Only just found this thread, if only i'd have known!
Curses!
