I think he wants to get in character for the audition

The 3D is really cutting into the rest of the budget ;)

Indeed - apparently he is down to the recall stage of the auditions and wants to put on a solid performance.
I suspect you'll need to provide more details, like where you are, for example. There might be someone nearby who can help you out (I suspect CF might offer to help just to get his nose in the door at the auditions to see if there is anything he could spirit away or, even, to get someone who owes him a favour on the set!!) but if you were in say... New York or Johannesburg it might prove trickier.
It would be easy to go to the audition as tobe2b, as the helmet would hide most of my face. Then once I had beaten and arrested the bods at the audition I would demand a part after informing them that I have the knowledge to do horrible things to them, if not picked ;)
Remind us never to have you in costume at a con, CF...
It would be carnage ;)
Damn! Still the film would get a lot of free publicity.
Remember all publicity is GOOD publicity ;)

What Pete said!
I'd assume from your post that your being seen for a role as an extra. If not and your going for an actual speaking role I would strongly advise you NOT to go dressed up. You'd likely get laughed out of the audition.
