Watching The Walking Dead last night, it struck me that This guy would make a good Alpha.
Grow his curls a bit and white the eyes and we have a winner.
You might have something there James. Him or Michael Fassbender anyway.
Good choices, but in my opinion Tharg had the best idea - Clive Owen

(Not quite so sure about a previous Tharg's suggestion for Harry Exton - Rutger Hauer)
Clive Owen would be a terrible Alpha and I'll tell you for why.
Actually - just watch Croupier and that's your why.
I thnk Clive Dunn would do a better job as Alpha than Owen, but maybe thats just me!
The guy at the top looks the part though never seen him in anything - presuming he's American?

Why I didn't think of that before is beyond me.
I agree he's got the look and profile down.

I've always liked the look of Johnny Alpha.

Uniform and all.

Owen could pull off the required brummie accent. Being from Coventry. Not sure the american fella could cultivate the distinctive midlands twang.
Anyway, it's beside the point, everyone knows Jimmy Nesbitt would make the best Alpha.

Isn't Alpha a Wiltshire lad - Salisbury way if I remember rightly? Certainly, the Great War of 2150 lleaves little more than a gaping radioactive hole known as the Birmingham Gap - which to be fair is an improvement on the new Bullring.

Christ, we can't have Alpha sounding like a Wurzel!

It's all Estuary down that way these days, anyway - Simon Pegg had it about right.
My first thought when I saw this thread was Clive Owen also. Defo gets my vote... if this ever goes to a vote!

Always thought that TV series design had a Jimmy Nail look. Never seen Croupier but I'm still going with Owen

Fixed that for you! ;)
Watching Daniel Radcliffe being interviewed about the new harry potter it struck me that he has an air of a young johnny alpha about him.

certainly the look, but lacking the steely determination
Anyone but Christopher Lillicrap as Alpha would be just plain wrong.
For my little Dog Breath story a while ago I used Rupert Everett as reference for Johnny Alpha.

And for those who may be too young to know who Christopher Lillicrap is....

Vincent Cassell?
My vote goes to Jim Caviezel..got that mouth and squinty eyes..
Rufus Sewell

He's also be my first choice for Jesse in a Preacher movie with Tim Roth as Cassidey
Looks wise i've alway thought of this guy...Adrian-Grenier
How about Inception's Eames - Tom Hardy (http://www.google.co.uk/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1592&bih=893&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=tom+hardy)?
Animated series in the style of Afro-Samuri.
And shown on BBC 2 at one in the morning, which should avoid any McDonalds tie-ins.

Saw him in 'Tristan and Isolde' last night on the telly and he was very good. Still don't think he's Johnny Alpha but sure there's a 2000ad character he should be... just can't put my finger on it... Tharg maybe!?! Also decided he'd be a good Doctor Who... I'm drifting aren't I...

Strontium Puppydog- in the far future Johnny Theta (played by Daniel Radcliffe) tracks down missing pets across the galaxy.
To be fair, daniel radcliffe lacks the 'steely determination' to do anything other than bluff and mutter like a pubescent hugh grant, and possibly wipe his palms on silken hankies after onanism. But that may be because of his association with harry potter. It'll be interesting to see how he copes in hammer's upcoming Woman In Black.
If they were starting a tv series with Portrait of a Mutant- which is unlikely i grant you- i reckon he'd be great. I quite like radcliffe. He seems decent enough, all things considered.
SBT
In a perfect world either Warren Oates or Paul McGann.
BEST THREAD EVER! :D

So aesthetically you don't think he looks like Alpha?
I'm sorry but I beg to differ...he looks a lot more like alpha than some on here have suggested!!
Personally I reckon James Nesbitt for the overall package...I think it would be hilarious ;)

I see a similarity, although I see Alpha as less pretty (but not bad looking) and a bit more grizzled maybe. He'd work as a young Alpha. In looks, I don't know the actor enough to remark on his acting ability.

To be honest I was thinking more portrait of a mutant young Alpha anyway...guys a yank so it would never work ;)
Cillian Murphy.
I've said it before but I always thought Damien Lewis would be the perfect Johnny alpha ever since I saw him in Band of Brothers. He's a good actor, he's British and he has proved that he can do regional accents. All he needs is a black wig or hair dye.

I've always thought Damien Lewis would make a good James Bond - it's that thin mouth bordering on sneer that does it
My vote would be Jim Caviezal as mentioned earlier
Cillian Murphy?..young Alpha maybe.
Clive Owen would get my vote and although Nesbitt would be ..erm,different i just cant see it..he aint big enough.
For a real outsider how about Lewis Collins...granted he is pushing on a bit and hasnt been seen in a bit...(please note this is not a serious idea, more like thinking outside the box, pushing the envelope and all those other horrible cliches)
Well Martin Shaw in the day certainly had the hair!

Nothing a hammer and some shaving foam wont fix.
