Hello everyone! I've just bought my tickets to the Bristol Comic Expo - who else is going?
Some of you I've met before and others I hope to meet - sadly, I'll be saying hello-goodbye as I leave for the States only a few months after the con. So who's going then?
See you there :)
Well I'll definitely be going now! CF and myself were talking of doing a mini Helltrek I seem to remember.
Don't suppose the Radwagon will be stopping in Moray before heading to Bristol?
:D

Well, well! I had planned on taking the train but maybe here's an opportunity for another Trek...
Would truly love to but dont think I can afford it man. :(

Hang on, let's google map that... ;)
I'll definitely try and make it down for this. It's a good excuse for a few drinks to be had.
I'll be there - hopefully with stuff to flog - my first comic con since 2001!
Not only am I hoping to be there, I may have a table there at the small press thing too. God forbid, I may even have a comic to sell at said table!
We'll be there- it'll be great to see you again!
And I'll be there along with my travelling table of sales goodies!
Locust- it will be a real treat to see you again.
Just had a look into this and its not actually as expensive as I was thinking it would be. I can fly to and from Bristol for 40 euros. Thinking it might be able to manage this now. Locusts are you going for the whole weekend? If I was doing this I would probably just go to 1 day, most likely the saturday.

Aye, I'll be there all weekend - that'd be great if you can make it! I'm glad so many of you are going to be there.

Ah well I had promised to go anyway but this just raises the "don't drop the ball again" stakes ;)
So any tips?
Any trek from the NW?
I have nipped down for the day but there are clearly logistical differences.

Everything you ever need to know can be learned in the Ramada Hotel Bar.

I like your thinking. Tip #1 is go to Bristol (very Zen) and stand around at the bar. I'm off now. ;)
So, Emperor is actually a real person?
Just dont go expecting to pick up any 2000AD bargains
am pretty sure they aren't in attendance this year

The real question is, is the REAL Emperor going to show? Or will he send one of his clones?
I look forward to seeing you (or your clones) Emps!

Really? Who said that?
I might be going, will you still be on the board when you leave locust?
Oh yeah, Will - I'll be buzzing around.
Of course he will! Theres no escaping now!!
Hey, LoD, looks like I'm going to be there too now. See you and the rest of the chaps (and chapettes) from the forum there.
Cheers!
Fantastic - everything needs about forty-eight percent more Colin :D
Me and Mr Dave Thomson are at table 75 flogging our glorious wares.

there's a picture of our faces there and everyfink!
FQP & Zarjaz are at table 78, while Satchmo and Mike Battle will be at table 80! Cool room!
Ah yes, shaping up to be an epic con! I'll be there of course, and my wife's coming too (I've finally convinced her). It'll be great to see Colin and Bolt and his Lordship and Fiery Bou again, and all you new faces (to me) too!

And table 77 is WJC (http://warwickjohnsoncadwell.blogspot.com/), I want to get his Kani comic (http://warwickjohnsoncadwell.blogspot.com/search?q=kani).
Wait, I'm confused, is there more than one bristol comic event type thing, because there is more than one site.
Will, there are actually two events now; One for all the mainstram comic-types, and then there is the Small Press Expo round the corner. I'm in two minds as to whether this works, as I really loved the free-for-all nature of the commonwealth Hall the event used to be in, but Fallen Angel are doing their best.
Plus- the Small Press venue has glorious air-con, while the Ramada is like wading through a swamp full of nerd sweat and farts.

This is true... I had to unexpectedly catch up on a lettering job on the Sunday last year and spent about four hours on my laptop with the delightfully cool bar almost entirely to myself, barring a walkthrough cameo by Al Ewing.
Cheers
Jim
Can anyone definitely confirm if 2000AD are going to be there? I was hoping to go this year after an unfortunate absence but if they won't be there...
Unfortunatley I won't be able to make Bristol due to work commitments in Egypt which means that Bolt's charm and sales pitches won't make me part with £1.50, don't worry Bolt I'll save it for Birmingham! :D

There's hardly enough going on at the 2000AD stand to keep you occupied for a two day convention, so I'm slightly mystified at the idea that their absence alone would make the Con a non-starter...
Cheers

No it's not that , it's just I haven't been in a long while but every time I read on here after the event , there's always someone who has to mention how great it was and so and so was there who did this and that for me , and I didn't want to miss out this year.
Or am I not understanding it right? The 2000ad droids will be at the 2000ad table , no?
Like I said , I haven't been for ages and even then I'm too embarassed to queue up for a sketch and always miss out :(.
Looking like me and the wife going to be at Bristol now. Not sure if its just a hit and run on the Saturday or if we're staying over
But I'm 99% sure that while the usual 2000AD faces will be there, there isnt a 2000AD table this year.
WTF?!? An extra £90 to stay at the Ramada this year?!? I don't think so- looks like I might be giving it a miss after all...

Have you seen the Ramada link on the website with the special rate for conference types?

No- I usually ring the hotel direct. This time, I got put through to some call centre, where they didn't know what I was talking about and quoted me the most ludicrous price ever. Will have a look at the link- cheers!
Booked in. I don't know why I'm complaining about the price though- it's the bar that sucks all my money!

Top tip: don't bother booking a room; just stay up all night drinking. The sofas in the bar are very comfy and the cleaners will hoover around you in the morning.....

This is why I hit the Wetherspoons round the corner at 4 and dont go to the hotel till 8 or 9 at the latest.
