Awesome! I'm just looking to replace a hundred-ish progs that got damaged in a recent burst pipe incident :'( so that'll help a lot! Luckily just ones from the last few years.

Never thought I'd be so glad I'd bagged and boxed the old ones, boxes knackered but progs fine. Had 2 boxes of unbagged ones though and some of them took the brunt. 1208 was in there but luckily only has a sort of mild waviness at the bottom  :D

Incidentally, what would be the score with postage/packaging as 100 progs is a fair weight. Just lots of normal envelopes?

ooh, I had that after a dodgy pint recently.

It's great to see that there's much more stuff in the future shop these days - I might get myself a shirt or two.

1 Strontium dog figure* and Fiends of the Eastern Front on the way. I have the older volume of Fiends, but seeing the extra stuff and at that price... the temptation got the better of me.

*It's been a while since I got an action figure I can tell you**, but that looked a good deal. And it will stand on the side, I won't play with it. Okay, I might play with it a bit.

**Apart from a couple of transformers a couple of years back, although I'd count them more as gadgets than action figures. I felt guilty and ended up selling them a short while after. I think I'll keep Johnny though. That sounds funny.

A Thrax t-shirt next week. For now, GlimmerRats, DR and Quinch and Fiends of The Eastern Front I've gotten for a song. Hope the new address won't be a problem.

Yeah, I thought that might happen. That's why I got in when I did.

I'm not keen on the great big crack down the front of the helmet though. I know that's a join, but it's very noticeable. Hopefully the one that arrives won't look so open. Still, not bad at that price. I like the sheer amount of stuff he appears to come with!

Anderson (the females are strange looking figures. Their faces just look wrong. Something about the eyes) had some kind of plate or manhole cover thing...

Nah, I keep getting a timed out report when my payment starts going through. I couldn't use my card at one point today (to pay a garage mechanic), and was told that the problem was with every customer of my bank - no one could use their cards at all for three hours this afternoon.
All I know is, something somewhere close by is about to get tw@tted. And tw@tted severely.

When you registrar with the shop, which i think you can do even if you don't buy something, you have the option of receiving an e-mail newsletter. Basically just an e-mail alerting you to stuff that's available.

Its anticipation station here at Rothwell Towers. I'm going to hold out on the t's until I see the conclusion of my first ever shop.

Can anyone inform me of the average ETAs of Tharg's shopping?

Pretty quick by all accounts. I'd ordered 88 progs last Saturday and they arrived yesterday (Wednesday). Any time I've ordered stuff in the past it's only been a couple of days, so Tharg is indeed as swift at posting things as he is wise and powerful.

Actually I was wrong (just opened the package), it wasn't 88 progs it was 1000 comic bags

It did seem like a strange delivery company for Tharg to be using. DPD they're called, which made me chuckle  :D

In my experience, Large is too large and Medium is too small. I usually go for a Medium anyway as baggy t-shirts make me look like a fat sod.

I'm still waiting for my order. A week now.  Still, nowadays that's not surprising.

Arrived today! The doorbell rang at 8.30*, and I came downstairs to find the delivery person gone, and a big box sitting in the porch.

Anyhoo. I'm happy with the contents. I thought the SD action figure looked a bit tacky in the picture in the shop, but the actual physical item is actually rather nice. Love the detail, accessories and the fact the armour is detachable. (Well semi detachable. I worked out how to open the belt but getting it over his shoulders is awkward. I gave up after a while. It's okay though as he looks much better with it on.) I noticed some marking on the shoulder armour but I think that's common with rubber items, etc. (Or maybe it was intentional 'wear' to show it's in use.) All this extra stuff reminds me of old Lone Ranger and Tonto figures I had as a kid. Not a much as that obviously but more than the old He-man stuff.

Hand grips are well made for the weapons etc. (I noticed the right seems especially made for his bigger gun.). Come to think of it, the weapons and items are very nicely detailed, although I'm not sure why they chose both guns to be blue. I love the fact the armour comes with two holsters. Very true to the comics.

They also list the 'time drogue' on the back of the pack but that didn't come with it... unless it's an attachment to his armour or something. The beam polariser was a nice touch... although he can't hold it. (To be fair I don't think he's supposed to. I thought it was a time bomb from the pictures.)

All round rather good. Stands well too. A bit more movement on the joints would have been nice, but they do the job. I noticed the proportions seem slightly off, the legs are a big long for the body which is actually surprisingly petite. It still looks good though, and I'm glad he wasn't bulked up like a lot of these things tend to be. Great figure, particularly for the price.

I'm half tempted by the other figures after this.(shame Dredd doesn't seem available. What were they doing with that pointy looking helmet though?) Anderson look anaemic though and Durham Red, just odd. That Slaine figure looks good though.

As for Fiends of the Eastern Front, I haven't read it all the way through, but I read the first story a while back. I had a quick look at the two extra stories Stalingradand Red Menace, and the art looks lovely.  I like the old hardback but this is a great item.

*That's really early for us. Mail doesn't usually arrive until after 11am, but this was quite a large parcel so I think it came by courier.

My T-shirts also arrived today - both are supposed to be "large" but they're fucking huge! I think they mean "comparatively large for a middle aged comic book fan".

I've been stung in the past getting 'medium's that barely stretch across my beer belly, but honestly I could go camping in these!

I reread Fiends yesterday. I rather liked Stalingrad. Red Menace was kinda silly but good fun with that kind of alternate timeline story.
"That looks like Durham Red", I thought. (And didn't Ezquerra draw her well! Phwoaaar!) A bit of internet research later I find out it was her. Well... sort of.

I understand the Scarlet Apocrypha series is about putting Red in different time-frames, a kind of Elseworlds. If that's the case I wondered at her resilience to the cross as her vampirism here would be of the supernatural rather than mutation kind. Or is this the mutant version doing a time-job? Considering her Russian(ish) uniform (again, "phwoar")and machine guns (double phwoar) I think she's from this time period though.) Then again the Iron Cross is hardly a Christian icon. Constanta himself wore one in the Stalingrad strip.
The original is a classic but I find myself liking the last few chapters
when Rumania changes sides
much more than the earlier stuff. I'm not keen on the fact they utilise coincidence to resolve certain issues. (One Example:
Schmidt enters the barracks building to find all his mates there dead, and realises the 'Rumanians' are present. Cue, his mate turns up with some garlic he happened to find outside...
)

I'm happy with the purchase though.

I'd have to check to see if there is anything more specific out there (might be in the last trade) but I believe the idea is
that the stories are apocrypha, in line with the idea that Saint Scarlet has acquired a whole range of spurious tales and legends which have her cropping up throughout time. It is in keeping with the general thrust of the main story and is ironic as the return of Johnny Alpha seems to have relegated the whole reboot of the character to mere legend.
Okay. I haven't read any of the Durham Red GNs but I understand the gist from reading the synopsis from The Vermin Stars.  I probably don't need to spoilerise this but...
I understand she wakes up after millennia in hibernation to find outs she is worshipped by mutants as a goddess. So the Scarlet Apocrypha stories are basically fictional legends from the DR universe's point of view?
An interesting idea.

Heh. Just reading DR and Quinch Get Drafted for the first time in years. The escape is hilarious. Tell me someone please; Am I a bad father, to want to send it to my 13yr old daughter, as the whole, like attitude, is soooo her right now. Talking to her, anyone would think she is rehearsing for a job at Homebase. Every question is answered with a shrug and one mono-syllable word response! :D

On a seriously funny note- DR and Quinch could be the students of tomorrows survival handbook in no uncertain terms. The hardcore of cool.
