Hi Folks!
It's a long shot, I know, but I'm trying to locate a couple of old White Dwarf Magazines from the early eighties, namely issues 16 & 21, along with "The Best of White Dwarf Scenarios" Issue #1. Obviously I'm willing to pay a fair price for them, including postage etc. I'm in the Dublin area - if by some chance one of my fellow boarders has these issues for sale - but I can also pay by Mastercard if I need to try further afield.
Cheers from Paddy K!
I am afraid my White Dwarf and (come to think about it) my Dragon magazines may have been consigned to the great comic in the sky.

Sometimes the gaming conventions have a second hand stall... Could try there if you don't have any luck here. Or eBay of course. Good luck! :)
I have a stack of WD in the attic, Paddy, I'll go up and have a look for those issues at the weekend - 16 was before my time, but I should have 21 and I know I had at least two Best Of's . However there's always the risk that I'll be overcome with nostalgia and be unable to part with them, so don't get your hopes up!
Cheers, Tordel!
I'm setting up a D&D Campaign at the moment and I'd love to include some of the classic White Dwarf adventures in it, along with the mythos, creatures and Character Classes from the "Thomas Covenant Chronicles" that WD adapted for the game - hence my interest in acquiring those particular magazines. I've already tried Amazon and Ebay only to find that the issues I was looking for were out-of-stock or otherwise unavailable. I did hear rumours that there was a DVD of the collected White Dwarf issues 1-90 available but I've been unable to locate it. I shall say a few prayers to Crom for guidance, but in the meantime many thanks for your reply and consideration.
All the best and kind regards! - Paddy Kafka
Getting all weak-kneed with nostalgiac longing, thinking about those early WDs, especially stuff like The Halls of Tizun Thane.
And all this on the day when I'm doing the intro tonight for an Edinburgh film club showing of HAWK THE FUCKING SLAYER.
It's like 1980 never stopped happening.

Now that's a scary thought.
1980 must have been cool. I wouldn't know because I wasn't there, you old fackers :D.
I was 10, and awesome! As was Hawk.
Hawk still is awesome (I was minus 4 in 1980).
I was 13 and feel very old indeed. WD was classic stuff. They had the first Gotrek and Felix stories in there. Now I remember you young snotlings when it was really a Citadel miniatures catalogue and...rambles off for an interesting (only to himself) meander down memory lane.

Don't you mean
before it was a Citadel miniatures catalogue? :D Was a time you had to buy the Citadel Compendium too...

Saw that in The List and thought about unearthing one of PVS's old posts but didn't wnat to get told off. Do they screen things from film or is it a big video?
PS I also have a pile of old White Dwarfs somewhere but not as old as you're looking for.
Might be of help?

someones comment on youtube over HTS:
"I punched a bloke in the face once for saying Hawk The Slayer was rubbish.. But what I should've said was "Dad, you're right. Let's give Krull a try, and we'll discuss it later".
Ah, that's a brilliant quote!
Krull is arsom. Oh if there was ever a fantasy film mired in 80's cheese but still bad ass, Krull is it!
A note of disappointment: I watched the Beastmaster this past weekend with my daughter...and for the first time ever I realized how bad it was. And all these years I held that it was a great fantasy film. Alas.

Babylon Five's a big pile of shit.
Sorry to disappoint Paddy, but despite being sure I had most of the 20's up there, there aren't any in the crate I thought they were in. Worse, the scenario compendium I have is No. 2. The nostalgia quotient of digging through what I do have was completely overpowering, so thanks for the excuse!
If it's any use to you (i.e. if it'd the material you're looking for rather than the item) I know have PDFs of 16 and 21 (the Thomas Covenant ones, right?) and Scenarios 1 knocking about on an external HD at home - I don't think they'd be too big to e-mail if you have a Gmail account or somesuch - maybe 5MB each. Failing that I could stick them on a cheap flash drive and post them to you. LMK.
Hi Tordel!
Many thanks for your efforts on my behalf. It's much appreciated! I do indeed have a gmail account - Which is now removed- Bolt-01 - so if you could email me the info that would be great. If there's anything I can forward on in return, please do let me know. One good turn deserves another, as they say. Anyway, I'll keep me fingers crossed that all goes well and look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks again and all the best! - Paddy Kafka
Will do. You might want to petition a mod to edit out the e-mail in your post - there's always spambots and ne'er-do-wells on the prowl.
Paddy- edited the email out for you.
I loved White Dwarf magazine when I played 40k. I definitely enjoyed reading that more than my cack handed attempts at painting my Blood Angels army. Sometimes I regret the 60 odd issue collection that went to the great recycling pile in the sky, but then I look at how little space I've got for comics etc no and realise it was for the best.
A big thank-you to Tordelback for his kind assistance and to all you fellow boarders for your helpful suggestions. Cheers again and kind regards!
