Hi All,
I've been working on a script that I'm looking to use for some submissions (I'm going to some conventions over the summer), or at the very least (and probably most importantly) just to have some fun with, and I am looking for an artist to team with. The story is called Journey Through Hell. I'll write a small synopsis:
"Journey through hell tells the story of Robert Hudson from the moment he arrives in hell and his trials and tribulations when he gets there. Starting from the moment he arrives in hell by falling from the sky and landing hard at the gates of hell. When Robert gets his thoughts together makes a run for it. Could he be the first person in millennia to actually escape the clutches of hell?
The story will tell of Robert's struggle to escape hell. At first the reason he is in hell is a mystery but is revealed very early on. Although it is debatable if Robert deserves to be in hell, some of the characters he meets (and is forced to accept help from) most defiantly deserve to be in hell."
The first script is for 10 pages. Hopefully I've caught an artists eye.
Anyone interested can either leave a message on here or just send me a message and I'd be happy to send them the script to have a look.
Michael
Hi Dodsy.
If your submission is going to be to 2000 AD, and this is your first time, you will probably need to take the future shock route. I.e. a five page one-off story with a twist ending.
If they like your script they'll find the artist. (I think they'll do that anyway for longer scripts.)
On the other hand if you've got a few under your belt already, they might accept a multi-part story. I think each episode needs to be 5-6 pages. (So if you can find a logical way of breaking yours in two, that would help.)
Hi mardroid,
I wasn't thinking of using this as a 2000AD submission. I've wrote a couple of 5 page Future Shock style stories and just figured I'd try something a little different with this.
Now I'm just looking for an artist to take it to the next step and see what happens. Thanks for the hints anyway.
From the pitch it didn't actually sound like a submission to 2000ad. It sounds like a fair enough pitch by a self-published small-press comics writer looking for an artist.
And a proof reader.
Might I suggest you treat 'Journey Through Hell' as a working title only? You'll probably come up with a catchier name for it once the first chapter is finished and illustrated.

Yep. I should have paid closer attention:

All the best with that anyway, dodsy.
Cheers Mardroid.
You hit the nail on the head Usher. I've wrote a couple of 5 page strips that I intended as Future Shocks that never felt right so I decided to go all out with this one and see what comes of it. The title is definatly a work in progress as well.
If anyone can suggest some artists who may be up for helping with a submission it would be a big help.
