Title: My T-Shirt designs from paper to top!
Post by: COMMANDO FORCES on 18 February, 2011, 04:32:13 PM
The title is s bit of a misleader but there is a limit on the size of the subject and I couldn't put the following.

Follow the process as I get two tops made with designs from PJ Holden and Mike Carroll

A while back Mike kindly sent me an email with some Dredd badge designs but with my name on them (what a nice chap) and I tried to get one embroidered into a top but the place I went to wanted them done in some sort of electronic file thingy, so I lost interest.

Yesterday I went online to find anywhere else in the town that did such a thing and there was a place just down the road. I went down and had a chat with the manager in there and he said to send an email with the designs and they would get back to me, so I did.

Today I have that email and they can do both the designs and it's going to be £17 for a T-shirt and £20 for a Polo top. There is no set up charge and these are going to be a small run, not like the Hell-Trekker tops, hence it's slightly dearer than those.

First up is the header from my blog that PJ so kindly cropped for me. I'm going to get this done on a Polo top and there will be a line of black stitching as a border just to tidy it up.

Secondly it's the badge from Mike and I shall be getting this on a few tops and Sam can have one as well. There is nothing to add to this as it's just a straight forward copy.

I'm going down to the shop in a few minutes to pay up front and get the ball rolling, so let's see how quick it is before I get to wear the buggers  :D

Bloody too right Mr Proudhuff but there has been a slight delay. I will be going to the shop tomorrow as I forgot that on fridays we take Sam to music therapy. I said to Carolyn that I was popping out and she reminded me of our prior commitment  ::)

I should be seeing how these Polo Top designs look next week before they are embroidered.
I have went for the Judge Burdis badge on two for me and one for Sam, plus I have also put the logo of the Cellar of Dredd in to see what that looks like on a top as well (I did mention that in the first post).
Once I am happy with these it shouldn't be long before they are all mine  :D

Also when these are completed I shall be putting the Southern Contingent design in to see how that comes out.

Here are the finished badges as they came back from the place I am ordering the tops from. This is the digital look that they use to stitch in the design. Let's just say, I am VERY HAPPY  :D
With a bit of luck they will be ready this Friday!

Finally I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for something I have always wanted! Well the Burdis badeg, not the other one  ;)

I rang the shop up today and found out that only the 'Cellar of Dredd' top was ready. Not long after I was down there picking it up and shortly after I was wearing it (the badge tops should be here no later than Tuesday).

Here is a close up.

and here it is in all it's glory. Obviously it's not been ironed or washed and that's why the circular template mark can be seen.

Can't wait for next week ;)

Plus I have two other designs in mind, obviously one is the Southern Contingent design but last night I had another idea, just gotta pm someone to help out :-[

Arh and there was me thinking you'd been using it as a coaster for an over-sized cuppa

Roll on next week  :D

By the way, if anyone has the same template that I used above (with their name on, obviously) then they can make you a top as well. If the badge is as good as the 'Cellar' top then it should be spot on and well worth it!

The tops are in and I am mightily impressed with them. You can't really see it from the picture but the background stitch is gold as well but done with a slightly different gold, so as to make the badge more 3D.
I'll be posting a pic of Sam and me wearing our tops when he's back from school and Carolyn returns from work because she will be taking the thing!

After a small battle with Sam about keeping his hand down for the picture, I lost. Still I'm sure you can see how well these tops look, so come on Tharg get on the merchandise trail now and sort it out!

Have to say they look complete class. I'd love Tharg to do a run of these, or even better a run of shirts with the various 2000ad logos on them.

They do look very cool John, I reckon Tharg should employ you as chief merchandiser with all the effort you're putting in and in doing so flying the flag of 2000AD :)

I'm looking forward to the feedback at KAPOW, when the forum see one of them in the flesh! Also, I'm thinking of having the badge put onto a couple of T-shirts and a singlet vest now, as I like the finished item so much.

Over the the next few weeks I shall make a start on sorting out the next two designs to be made into tops.

After seeing my tops and being extremely happy with them, I now have th the other two designs ready to be made into tops. I shall be sorting this out next week.

The first is for the Southern Contingent meetings and the second is because, well I must be and I shall get Tharg to verify it at KAPOW!

SuperSurfer came up with the design and I asked for him to remove the entry hole and make it a flat image with basic colours and no shading and he did me proud.

Next up is from the amazingly talented Mike Carroll. Just what can this man not turn his hand to! I have so many versions of this image with different words underneath but I think I will settle for my forum name (who knows I may get one done with my real name as well).

The first is for the Southern Contingent meetings

Will you be getting some done for Southers to purchase John Beryl? Hint, hint.  ;)

What I'll do Albion is get mine done, wear it at the next meet and see who wants one and take the orders for all who do!

Cool, you can add me to the list. I'm sure it will look great, the Judge badge one is very impressive.

I can see the day when every single item of clothing you wear will have to be badged; including ultimately the straitjacket... :D
