Can anyone help with identifying some artwork that I have decided to sell?
I bought it many years ago from Silver Acre , and it's a montage featuring 7 characters including
Dredd and Karyn in 7 vertical strips. I'm sure it's from a Meg issue. The artwork is by SB Davis and
is dated 1994.
When it is finally identified , can anyone give me an idea how much I should ask for it?
I paid £550 for it and it hasn't been displayed or anything. I really want the money to put
towards something and have reluctantly decided to part ways with it.
Due to the current climate I'll give you £250 ;)
Take a picture so we can see this lovely!
I think it may be from a Dredd Mega Special, probably this one:
ISTR that the page you have was relating to this...
QuoteReaders were given the option of voting for their favourite of new characters: "You get to chose which of these six series should be continued by participating in our special telephone poll".
Ooh well done , I'll check that when I get home tonight.
Oh and John , I'm reading this on a bloody iPod and could swear that read £2.50!!!!
SOLD!
Here it is:

Very cool, especially the reptillian Dredd! But why do I have no idea of who most of those people are? I even own the issue in question...

PSI Judge Karyn, Creep (?), Pandora, Ball Brothers (?), Joe from 13 (?), Brit Cit Babes (?)...

Karyn, some villain from Missionary Man (?), Pandora, God knows (?), Newt or Armitage (?), Dredd, Wetworks (?)
That's the one! Now , can anyone suggest a starting figure?

This from the rather wonderful 2000AD Covers Uncovered site:
"A strange one next, a spread from the Judge Dredd Mega Special from 1994. Readers were asked to vote on which series they'd like to see back in the Megazine. From left to right there's: Judge Karen, the Undertaker (from Missionary Man), Pandora (drawn by the late John Hicklenton), Sumos and Sporrans, Dredd - Sinned-In City and the superb Wetworks."Linky: http://2000adcovers.blogspot.com/2010/06/simon-davis-whos-your-grandpere.html (http://2000adcovers.blogspot.com/2010/06/simon-davis-whos-your-grandpere.html)
As for starting price, erm, dunno...
Thanks all - but we're still short one. Who's the guy between Dredd and (WTF?) "Sumos and Sporrans"? I'm not buying" Joe from 13" (long before his time) or Armitage (although I can see how it could be the flashback version). Was 'Newt' the name of the Brit Cit Brute? If so, that seems like a possibility.
EDIT: Oh, Sinned-In City, now I geddit - so that's a Marv analogue of some sort? And we were supposed to vote for his return?
Is it any wonder I lost faith in the House of Tharg around that point...
I'd taken the long walk from the Meg about this time...Sumos and Sporrans WTF?

One thing that's always bemused me down the decades is 2000ad's obsession with comedy Scotsmen. This one featured a Scottish sumo team competing in Hondo-cit, if you hadn't guessed - two comedy stereotypes for the price of one!
I think Richmond Clemens own some original SB Davis art (Billi Octavo in skintight leather and Sin/Dex in drag, IIRC), he may be able to give you a tip on prices.

It's the Scots writing talent that's responsible, as I presume you know these days. Still, it's an odd thing to come across when you're an English kid, especially when these Scotsmen are always turning up in Mega-City One or space.

We've got that page and a page from Black Shiddah (sp).
This was from the days when Si sold his own stuff at conventions for next to nothing though- I have no idea how much his pages go for now.

I had my eye (on behalf of a friend) on a couple of SinDex pages that were on eBay over the last six months or so, and they went for £120+. Nice pages, but a prices seemed a little steep considering what they were available for not too long ago. Reflects availability and the fact Simon Davis is fecking awesome, I think. I'll get one eventually, I hope (for me)!
What do you think a good starting price would be on ebay?
Dunno, really - £50? I think you'd be lucky to get near what you paid for it, to be honest. That feeling's mainly based on what I've seen a load of nice recent pages go for (Leach VCs, Kennedy Rogue, Ezquerra SD, and even an O'Neill Nemesis page (which went for under £500)). Not trying to put you off, though! Alternative sales methods might be to put it on CAF and list it as for sale, or mention it on the ComicArt-UK Yahoo group.
I could be interested - PM me your details so we can discuss etc.
Cheers
GUY
Well , it's up on Ebay from 8pm tonight in case anyone wants to make a bid.
I don't know how to put a link on here so it'll be under 'Original Judge Dredd artwork'
There's also some Foundry paints and my rare copy of Crisis/Earths signed blah blah on there as well , again from 8pm
Well , seeing as no-one bid , I have put this back up as it's a free listing day. There's also some other stuff on there as well , like NASA space shuttle mission photographs. The listing number for the art is 180648146738.
If no-one buys it this time it goes in the bin ;)

:o That pleases me given I got one for £100. I was pretty amazed at the time. No Nemesis himself, but it's the "witch-dunking" scene at the end of the first episode (Nemesis the Warlock). that was about 5/6 years ago I think. It's got Torquemada done in that stuff with the dots they used a lot for big shaded areas back in the day :D
More on topic, I've got 3 Davis SinDex pages (Billi, Ramone & Finny in space helmets, Finny shooting at the cops out the back of the Edzel and Demi in "that dress" ;) They were all £40 or just above I'm sure. Maybe slightly more. Again, 5/6 years ago.

Highlight the link in the address bar (a click will usually do, but I clicked and dragged as you only need the bit up to the ID number), right click, select copy and then paste it into the page. The forum does the rest as it can spot a link in the text and turn it into a clickable one.
You can get all fancy by highlighting a word, hitting this button (http://2000adonline.com/forum/Themes/2000adblue/images/bbc/url.gif) and pasting the link in (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180648146738) but keep it simple for now. ;)

Ok , I'll try this now.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JUDGE-DREDD-TRADING-CARDS-/180648156214
I was going to but they're only little listings.
£4.50 for 3 Dredd cards.... ouch :'(
Ah yes , but they are the chase cards - not so easily to come by. The rest are 10 a penny , but I would have loved to have found these ones when I was looking originally. I couldn't find them anywhere. So someone must want to fill in a gap and therefore I WANT FUCKING £4.50
The best thing ever was not so long ago I bought 1 of these cards on ebay thinking the rest will eventually turn up . It arrived in an envelope and when I opened it ALL the chase cards were in it. Turns out I didn't read the listing properly and it was in fact for all the set. Huzzah!!
