Title: Hive mind help needed... My laptop keeps switching off it's wifi!
Post by: Buddy on 16 March, 2011, 08:02:44 PM
Dell 9300 running XP.
Function F2 toggles wifi on/off. When I switch it on it goes off again a second later.

Any suggestions why this is happening?

Cheers in advance.

It sounds like your wifi adaptor might be about to give up the ghost but there are a couple of things you could try.

Check the power save settings under your control panel (just disable everything and see if the problem goes away) and also try reinstalling the driver for it.

Is it actually the wifi going off or just disconnecting from the network?

Does it find a network while it's on?

How long has it been doing this?

Unfortunately, I wont be much help as I use cables. Does it work if you plug it into your router?

Have you tried coaxing the WiFi to stay on with some cheese?
