There's been mention of this on the KaPow thread, but just a little plug of its own:
Saturday 9th April, from 4pm
At the Slug and Lettuce, Upper Street, Islington*
<ahem>
The perfect end to a comics day
Come along to the Slug and Lettuce to drink beer and talk shite with some of the forum's finest.
Artistic talent on display includes:
KevLev
Uncle Fester
El Chivo
Dunk!
Kerrin
Supersurfer
and the mighty Pete Wells
(Disclaimer: all of the above have said they're coming for drinks; if you buy them a pint, they may well do you a sketch)
Further guests to be announced (read: kidnapped from the big show)...
* From KaPow, exit the Business Design Centre and turn left onto Upper Street, walk about 50 yards, cross the road. The pub is on the corner looking over Islington Green.
Letterer to the stars, Jim Campbell, confirmed for the pub....!

Letterer to the stars (and PJ), Jim Campbell, confirmed for the pub....!
FTFY. :-)
Cheers!

I'll defo be popping my head in at some point.
Seeing as my roommate is going I better pop along, otherwise he won't find his way back in the wee hours!
Might be worth a stroll along to. :-)
Yay Large, I'll finally be able to find put just which bits of original artwork you own!
Jim, I'll buy you a pint if you tell me to "Fuck Off!"
Happy days! Oh and Mr Burdis, you may have to carry me home (via the nearest Greggs.)
Will anyone be going to the pub on a Friday evening? My train gets into Paddington about 8pm and by the time I've checked in at Jurys Inn I have nothing else to do till beddy byes.
I'm going to be around on Friday evening, but I'm not sure what I'm doing -- I have one (possibly two) books for Zenescope going to press that day, so I'm taking the 3G modem with me and will most likely be doing corrections and uploading pages for a chunk of the evening, but I'm certainly going to be in the mood for a beer by the time I'm done with that!
(I'm booked into the Euston Travelodge, which is a bit of a hoof to the venue, but is handy for St Pancras and was about the best I could do on price!)
Cheers!
Jim

Is the Dredd movie panel still going ahead?
on Saturday · Delete Post.Michael Dodsworth
@Ashley. I seriously hope so but it's looking unlikely :-( Unless the incorporate it into the 2000AD panel

Ooooh! That's a bit of a bummer! One of my main reasons for going!
Still, with all the 2000ad artists in attendance it should still be a good couple of days!
Doesn't sound good :(
I have a feeling that they're going to hold out until they can reveal something substantial, such as a trailer. Bits and pieces are rather pointless and undermine promotion unless they're part of a larger campaign.
That's the problem with promising something with a great fanfare isn't it.
When you can't deliver - it compromises your appearance.
Pete, I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you............ lol

Well they didn't really, it was always a
might be thing that was mentioned once by someone involved.

I'm sorry Joe but it was on the official KAPOW site, on the 2000AD panel info but obviously it ain't now!
If there's demand for a pre-ahem drinky on Friday, then I can highly recommend the Lincoln Lounge, just round the corner from Kings Cross station (see http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/75/7561/Lincoln_Lounge/Kings_Cross (http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/75/7561/Lincoln_Lounge/Kings_Cross)).
Hope it's nicer than the Flying Scotsman in Kings Cross which I ended up in on Friday. Anyone who's been there will know what I mean (hubba hubba!)
However, I'm happy to go back there however, if anyone wants to see...

T'was never on the front page where the movies are mentioned though which always made it dubious unless it's a surprise.

Joe, I don't think it was ever
dubious - and iirc it
was billed as an attraction, whether it was on the Kapow front page or not... add to that the fact that the producer announced it and the news was broken on the internet via many sites (including CBR (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:o6phnG1qdrUJ:www.comicbookresources.com/%3Fpage%3Darticle%26id%3D29703+dredd+movie+preview+kapow&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&source=www.google.co.uk)) that there would be an exclusive preview at Kapow:
Quote from: Andrew Macdonald"It is fantastic to be involved with Kapow! and I'm really looking forward to talking to all the fans about our upcoming Dredd movie. I'll be on the 2000AD panel with a little taster of what people can look forward to from our 2012 release".
Admittedly that link is a cached one, but I'm sure we had the news here as well...
I never saw that Kev, I tried not to read it but I did :'(
By the way Joe, I never said it was on the front, I said it was mentioned in the 2000AD panel. I always felt it was going to be more of an interim sort of thing, to keep the 2000AD fans happy and so that we could get a sneaky peak and then go and spread the good word before any trailer hits the net!

That's the
one announcement i'm talking about that all the sites including this one repeated/reported. No definite on whether there'd be anything shown, rumoured to be footage, then it was pictures, and since then there hasn't really been a peep. Kapow not even putting it on the front page made it a rather
uncertain affair, it would have been a big attraction, so it wouldn't have been just a line hidden in the schedule and t'would be advertised up-front with all the other big films and TV series if it was ever a certainty. Unless they really want to surprise.

Don't worry, it wasn't a criticism of your good self, there seemed to be a slow
back-track from the whole thing since it was announced, as it got closer to the day in question there wasn't even any real confimation. Not to say they won't have a pic or two at the 2000AD panel if DNA don't want to make a big noise without showing anything.
I might pop into the pub after Kapow finishes around 7pm to see if anyone is still around.
Not that I'll recognise anyone of course.
Maybe I should just stand nervously in the corner? Does that sound like a good plan?
