Having met Colin YNWA at Kapow, i was wondering if there was anyone else here on the boards within a 30 mile radius of Chesterfield? This is a big area and incorporates Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham. Colin and i are gona meet up for a beer over the summer so if there are any "locals" who would like to join us please get in touch.
Myself and LARF had been mulling over just such a thought quite recently, so I'd certainly be up for it, schedule permitting. I know there are one or two more boarders who are local to these parts, but I won't 'out' them. :-)
Cheers!
JIm
Sheffield lad meself.
As Jim said, schedule permitting i'd be up for it! :)
Thats four. Hey Jim i was in the slug and lettuce on the Saturday evening after Kapow and i did not get a chance to say hi........2 reasons.....1 you was in deep conversation with others and 2 there was food about!!!!!
A day out in Sheffield in the early summer sounds good to me.
Well done that man. Looking forward to it. hopefully we can get the dates to work for folk.
Watch this space!!!!!!
Nottingham here too.
I might be up for it, although I have to admit I am pretty lazy when it comes to leaving the house to do stuff...

Yeah... I realized from some of the posts here that I missed several boarders at the S&L; apologies once again. In my defence, I was a bit frazzled and I hadn't eaten anything since 7:30 in the morning. I saw the food arrive, and then the assembled boarders descended upon it like those thingies from the library in Dr Who, leaving only a few bones and -- strangely -- all the salad.
Cheers!
Jim
You may have a six pending work and home commitments. Being from Leicester I guess that counts for something.
Round Chris's for tea and biscuits it is then.

Too late -- we're already inside.
Proud Geodie here looking for other Geodies on this here forum.
I'm in York, so this sounds as close as any of these things are likely to get.
Looking in diary and any Saturday in June apart from 18th is good for me. 4th 11th or 25th will leave it with you guys.
Need to check the diary (i.e. ask my wife) but I know we're away from 17th for a week so not sure whether I'll be back for 25th 4th and 18th I think are cool though
This is narrowing down well......4th or 11th June it is then Sheffield. Everyone happy?
This sounds good to me!
So far so good with me too.
So what date guys for the Sheffield Hotdog Run? 4th or 11th?
I can make either date, but can I make a plea for afternoon/early evening? If the die-hards want to keep going into the night, fair play to 'em, but I'd as soon be catching the train home while it's still fairly civilized, particularly because I'll almost certainly have work to do on the Sunday, and I just can't hack hangovers like I used to!
Cheers
Jim
You and me both Jim. Was thinking of an early doors job anyway. I'm usually all ready for bed by 9.30 he he he. 12 till 6ish is just about enough for me.
I'm an advocate of daytime drinking, so all is still cool with me ;)
Well I'm all for an afternoon early evening drink. I'm old and grumpy and really like to be in bed for 10pm. Also the better pubs will be more pleasent earlier in the evening. Will people be travelling up (or down) by train? If so there are a couple of nice pubs by the station?
Sheffield's only an hour from Manchester by train, so I could make this.
Train for me Colin 25 min journey so will be there for bout 11.30ish. We doing 11th or 4th?
Am going to make an executive decision here guys and say 4th June.
Sheffield Hotdog run Saturday 4th June. Meeting place TBC (Colin) from 12pm onwards.
Cadets cleared for run so far..

Well the easiest place will be Sheffield Tap which is at the Station itself and gets very good reviews. if we fancy somewhere a bit posher after we all gather we can pop across to the Showroom 2 minutes away.
There you have it guys. Sheffield Hotdog Run Saturday June 4th 2011 12pm onwards meeting at The Sheffield Tap in the Station!
Happy Days. See you all there.
Why do I have to work Saturdays. Out I am afraid. Sheffield is a bit of a trek as well. Maybe next time. The wife has a sister that lives in Hoyland (Between Barnsley and Sheffield) so may be able to make a weekend for the next meet.

Yeah, sorry chaps - Sheffield's a bit 'out there' for me, for an afternoon pint. Nothing against Sheffield, it's a lovely place!
This is all good with me :)
Looking forward to this!
Sorry you wont be coming guys. Hope to see everyone else there and others too if they want to come.
On a tangent congratulations Spireite68. I'm sure if your going Monday (I think) will be a blast!
Thanks Colin. Yes will be there tomorrow(Monday). If we beat Bury we are Champions. Will be an all dayer, good job am off work for another week. Happy days.

Just a reminder that the Sheffield Hotdog run is 2 weeks on Saturday. Meeting from 12pm onwards at the Sheffield Tap which is in the Train Station. Us Norts have to stick together to show the soft Southers hows its done!!!!!!
You're all southerners to us. :)
- Jock McTrout
Am specifically talking about ENGLAND Mr Trout, you know that country that keeps your universities fee free and provides you with subsidies for free prescriptions!!!!! He He He.
Looking forward to it and its got me out of a 2nd birthday party (tooo many of them being had at the moment!) so double good.
Pictures please and try not to look like the Happy Mondays ;)
Am hoping its more Happy Mondays than ABC!!!!!!
Either of whom, at there peak involved a lot more hair than I suspect we'll be able to muster between us. Though if Jim is still coming he'll boost the average at least!
Am gona wear a wig!!!!!!
You want to have this with you to decorate your RV:
Okay so this is happening this weekend. People still up for it or should I take a book (well comic) with me?
Work permitting, I'm still planning on showing me face!
Cheers

Always found just leaving a copy of 2000ad on your table does the trick

I'm going to get there for 12, early if I can. See you there.
I'd almost forgotten about this - I'll be there!

I'll be there too :)
Weekend finally (mostly) sorted. I'll be there too (hopefully).

Probably arriving on 12.35 train. And to avoid emabrassing clashes, I think I'll plump for the "Dredd: you're nxt punk" T-shirt!

Bah. Too much work. Such is the joy of a freelance life. Sorry, chaps -- have a pint of something for me.
Cheers!
Jim
Sat outside (hoping the weather lives up to the forecast!) Latest prog on table instead of carnation in lapel. Wife said I look nerdy enough to standout anyway!
Well aside from the forecast letting us down it was an utterly enjoyable afternoon. More to follow after I've made tea and put the little un to bed. Mind I suspect its still going on a plenty at The Howard but I had to bail.
Looking forward to when we do it next already.
Had a great day. Chatted about all manor of things!! Colin and Dan always a pleasure and great to meet Woolly and Cthulouis and not forgetting Matt. We def gona do this again. Am knackered now he he he.
Just lurched in. What a splendid day out. Lovely people, good beer, great conversation, the hours flew by.
There was very little photography or shopping, just drinking and hard-core nerdtalk. However I did get two snaps:

From L-R: Wooly, Matt, Cthuluois, Colin NYWA and Spirite68.
Here's one with me in - the instruction for this photo was "Do your best Dredd chins"
Well lacking a chin my Dredd face may lack a little, but the fun certainly wasn't lacking yesterday. Conversations I had ranged from the nature of the nature of Christianity and atheism to Bolland's Eagle shoulder pad, now that's quality!
It was great to meet everyone and special thanks to Spirite68 for getting the ball rolling and organizing this... now get those Progs out and get Dante read before next time huh!
Cheers everyone for a great day, can't believe the 6 hours flew past so quickly.

Hmph. Glad you all had a good time while I was toiling away over these pages. Fingers crossed for next time, eh?
Cheers!
Jim
A genuinely arsom day, was a pleasure to meet you gents (and to get a sneak preview of the prog!) :)
Definately must do this again sometime.
Lots of topics of conversation which included, bollands eagle, the proper colour of the elbow and knee pads yellow or green?, the first Dredd full colour centre spread(I think it was THe Cursed Earth part1 although I maybe wrong), dredds helmet( oooer missus), the fact that I have never ever read Dante, Halo Jones, Sinister Dexter(as Matt said yesterday I'm a purist coz I only read Dredd!). Oh and I think I mentioned that I got Case Files 1-7 for 50 quid at Bristol!!!!
I think us Norts need to mount an assault on those soft southers on their own turf sometime in the summer. Cheap train to London for the day for an all day orgy of Dredd and Alcohol. Let me know when it's good for everyone.
Jim if its any consolation rather than simply have a pint in your honour some c**ts were called out in your absence. We felt it was fitting.
Yeah it'd be great to have you join us next time.

I'll do my best! To be honest, I'm
unfeasibly busy at the moment -- it's highly unlikely I'll be this jammed up with work for the next time.
Cheers!
Jim
Just got back from this, due to going the long way home. Great to meet you all, will definitely be up for doing that again!

Nice MC1 plaza behind you, but whose is the hat in the middle of the table?
