Title: Frill Powered Fortieth!
Post by: Spaceghost on 06 May, 2011, 02:03:45 PM
It's my birthday on the 31st of May and much to my surprise and disgust, I'll be turning 40.

My brother has asked me what I want, as he wants to get me something 'special'. His first thought was a Dredd badge from Termight Replicas but sadly they're out of stock.

We are both quite geeky and usually buy each other something comic/sci-fi related (we share the same birthday but I'm 1 year older than him.) so I thought I'd ask youse guys if you might have any off the wall suggestions.

Any ideas?

I dunno how much he's likely to spend but a commission leaps to mind! You can get 'em anywhere from £40-thoosands!

As Pete said, a commission is a memorable present for a 40th birthday.

My 40th was last year and I got cash from various people and put it together to get a commission from PJ Holden.

Or just get your head down and pretend it isn't happening - that is what I did this year.

What did you do with the other £39?

A commision sounds like a winner.

Does anyone know if Henry Flint goes in for this type of thing? If so, any idea about prices and/or contact details?

I contacted Henry Flint recently about this and alas he's too busy.

I was going for a commission for my impending fortieth but for one reason and another am beginning to wonder whether I'll do it. Alas not too long to make my mind up!

Congrats.

I often set something a bit sci fi, comicy or gamey but must admit that I didn't for my 40th today, got a lovely guitar instead.  Just the one little Cthulhu GN for the geek in me.

As Pete said, a commission is the best pressie as it's totally unique. This is what Cliff Robinson did for my 40th - The Charlbot (my Wife) liaised with him and Pete made the introduction, I was - to say the least - well chuffed!

That's ace Larf, fantastic pressie.

That's absolutely brilliant Larf. And massive!

If it's not too intrusive, what sort of ballpark figure would I be looking at for something like that? And what size is it?

You can PM me if you'd rather not discuss it on here.

I just want to get some idea of prices before I suggest it to my brother. Don't want to have him shelling out too much.

Yeah, no ideas for your 40th, Lee, as my own is much too far away to start thinking about now  :D but Happy Birthday anyway!
