Title: Is $50 too much to pay for postage from the states for a page of comic art?
Post by: Buddy on 19 May, 2011, 09:34:39 PM
There is a page of comic art or sale on ebay that I'd really like to buy... but the seller is charging $50 for postage to UK!

This seems a tad excessive to me... has anyone else bought art from the states... if so what was yer postage??

On a side note... if anyone in the states would act as a 'go between'.. get art posted to them then post onto me at a normal rate, I'd be much appreciated.

Cheers!
J.

I haven't bought a lot of art from the states, but I'm sure I've had stuff posted for a wee bit less than that. That said, I don't think $50 is necessarily that unusual (though I am prepared to be shouted down by those who've done more international wheeling and dealing.)

$50 sounds about right then.... think I'll just go for it and fuck the cost. It's a great page from my fave comic and they come up very infrequently.. I should just knuckle down and do it.

As for that Anderson cover... you lucky begger, it's fantastic. Cover of the year by a mile.

How did you manage to get that??!!

You could always drop the seller a line and ask them about whether global priorty mail is a cheaper option.

I'd say $50 seems fine - as has been said, $30 is standard tracked for packages around 1kg with low insurance cover with Royal Mail. Another $20 for full insurance seems pretty fair.

What's the page Buddy?

It was a page from Peter Bagges HATE comic.

Actually missed the end of the auction as it finished at about 4:30AM. (seller in in NY so evening there is middle of bloody night here).

Page went for around £100.. so the plus postage would push it up to £130 or so.

I'll just need to keep my eye out for the next one and set my alarm to catch it.

Wow a page of Hate went for £100. That sounds like a good deal. Love me some Hate really need to track down the latest Annual.
