Title: Legoland
Post by: The Enigmatic Dr X on 29 June, 2011, 07:37:58 PM
Just back from a day in Legoland Windsor. Family knackered, and my wallet is truly busted.

It's great, but not cheap!

Highlights include the Dragon ride, with a full scale smoke breathing dragon, a fun laser game and seeing my boy's face when he experienced a moment of zero g at the apex of a pirate ship swing.

Re: Legoland, love Johann Hari's comments at the time of the Royal Wedding.

*We are told that the Windsor (Royal) family is great for tourism. In fact, of the top 20 tourist attractions in Britain, only one is related to the monarchy – Windsor Castle, at number 17. Ten places ahead is Windsor Legoland. So using that logic, we should make a Lego man our head of state."

Legoland is indeed a grand day out. We've been there quite a few times over the years- more when Micro and Nano were small though.

I stayed a night in a hotel near Legoland once. On a Bank Holiday week end. The scene at breakfast was apocalyptical at best; over excited kids, crying kids, laughing running mad kids, frazzled parents, flying lego and sausages all over the place. And THE COFFEE WAS SHITE so I didn't even have that for comfort. It was quite funny, but it was a shock to the system!

Thing is, it was because we were flying out of Heathrow as there was no suitable connection same day and we had booked the same hotel for the return leg. We seriously considered sleeping in the airport! But it was OK second time - coffee was still shite, but I didn't have to dodge flying plastic bricks.

Since then, I don't let Mrs Mikey choose hotels  ;)

Who needs Legoland, I get all that at home for free*!

*Although I do have to pay for the sausages and coffee.

(Really want to go to Legoland, though).
