Title: New creative team for Asterix
Post by: Colin YNWA on 26 July, 2011, 07:44:47 AM
Via Bleeding Cool

My ignorance of continental comics means I don't know either of these two. If anybody has any insights it'd be interesting to hear. Going to be very strange to see Asterix handled by a completely different team but I'll keep an open mind.

Asterix hasn't been the same since Goscinnys passing. Sure he looked the same but the writing on the later books was very weak to downright poor (aliens, really?). Will be interesting to see if the art style is mimicked or if they go for a radical departure

I think Uderzo's work (writing that is) got weaker as he went on perversely. I actually think Black Gold stands up really well.

Okay this is a little odd. The BBC is running an article about Uderzo retiring

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-15072853 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-15072853)

They state that the new team is still unknown. Sooo this is one of two things. Poor journalism on the BBC's part (after all the news of his retirement is far from new). Secondly something has changed... oh and third that  Bleeding Cool got it wrong in the first place. I wonder what's brewing?

Apologise for answering my own post but just been over to Bleeding Cool and they are running with the piece as well. So it would seem that they (Bleeding Cool) shot their bolt on that one.

That's kind of how I feel about it. I've read other comics and books Goscinny wrote and you can tell it was his sharp wit which made Asterix work. I wish Uderzo had moved on to another project if I'm honest. He had a great style, but he needed a writer. I hope the next creative team is a radical departure of art with less sentimental scripts.

Well it a necropost all right, but for good reason. New new artist seemingly confirmed.

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/10/15/didier-conrad-is-the-new-artist-for-asterix/ (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/10/15/didier-conrad-is-the-new-artist-for-asterix/)

and a quick google search shows that Didier Conrad's art certainly seems the part...

Told ya I ain't going away.

We have a title. Asterix and the Picts. Which in theory could hold a special interest for a good number of folk here? Me as well, but I was a given!

Also a date, at least for people who did better at GCSE French than I did. 24th October 2013.

Wild boar tastes better when it's deep fried.

Just found a box of old Asterix. I'm really looking forward to see what the new team put out.
