No More Heroes is my recently-launched debut comic. Here's the teaser ad for it:
It's a four issue mini-series with a twisty turny plot and lots of dark humour. Even if you think the plot's a bit guff (it's not! Honest!) I can safely bet you'll like Caio's artwork (I might have to chain him down to make sure he finishes the issues before a publisher nabs him).
You can read the first ten pages for free on our website: http://nomoreheroescomic.wordpress.com/ (http://nomoreheroescomic.wordpress.com/).
Congratulations on the publicity, fingers crossed the piracy helps raise your profile and shift a few copies (as has happened before):

Looks good Gordy, well done on getting it out and a mention on Bleeding Cool as well. That is bleedin' cool!
Congratulations on this GordyM. Best of luck!
So what's the future plans?
How many issues?
Collected edition?
Issue one is REALLY good.
Thank you for the kind words!
Glad to hear you liked the first issue, Alski. It's a four issue series. Art for issue two's nearly complete. We're talking about doing a collected edition but right now the focus is on trying to get a publisher to pick it up. Then Hollywood! :D
the only downer for me is the black and white art. Looks like it really wants to be coloured in.
Nice work, Gordy.

Same here.

Bought a copy of this at the Glasgow comic mart the other week, and really enjoyed it.
Real professional quality-level stuff, which - frankly - isn't something you can say about most self-published/small press work.
Recommended.
Mine has just arrived through the modern miracle of the post. Tis a good yarn with lovely B&W art.
Thank you again for all the positive responses. It's a real relief that no one's called it a "bag of bollocks" yet or something like that.
R.E. the black and white art - yeah, I wanted it to be coloured too, but the whole thing was self funded be me using a mixture of redundancy money and the sale of my Playstation games and I just couldn't afford the extra costs of colouring and having the issue printed in full colour. However, if a publisher picks it up I will definitely hire a colourist.
I have just placed an order for issue 1 - looking forward to it!
This looks really good. Are you going to be at the Thought Bubble festival in Leeds this November? I'd definitely be looking to pick this up there if you are.
My copy arrived this morning (thanks for the quick delivery!) - haven't read it yet but first impressions are very good - classy production and excellent, professional quality artwork.
Everyone should order a copy, this is worth supporting and is great value for £3.
Thank you, Radiator! A wise man who speaks the truth. :D
Thought Bubble - I'll possibly be at it, though it's too early to give a definite answer yet. The Cons I can say I'll definitely be at so far are Kapow and the Glasgow Comic Con.
Here's a brilliant piece of art Caio's done that shows off Pieces - a nasty SOB who gives Sid a hard time in #2.

Issue 2 is almost ready to go to print. Here's the teaser ad for it:
Great. I enjoyed the first issue. I copied it over to my new ereader and it worked pretty well. That's one thing about the stark black and white, it works with ereaders better than colour which - while readable - looks a touch odd.
Excellent news! Kiddiwink hostages, Jack Slaughter and poor Sid stuck in the wake. With apologies for that pun. You and Caio have bought out the sick sod in me; I've been looking forward to seeing that polar bear get some boom. >:D Unhealthy, maybe. Damn fun read, definitely.
Anybody reading this who's not picked up #1, a rollicking good opener, then you really, really should. It's a good 'un.
Gordy, Issue 1 was fantastic and looking forward to the next one.
Thank you! I'm always genuinely happy when I hear that someone liked our comic. Only for a moment, of course, as I'm a cold-hearted, gruff Scottish SOB who can't show weakness in my clan. Maybe.
I'm also very chuffed to say 3/4s of the limited edition print run of #1 are now gone. I'm amazed to see how well it's done and been received, especially considering it's the first title from a couple of unknowns. I can't give enough thanks to everyone who has picked up a copy.
Anyway, #2 goes to the printers next week. Meanwhile Caio's started #3 and the script for the fourth and final issue will be finished today. Both nervous and excited to see what people make of the ending and the big reveal (just hoping there's no Mass Effect 3-style backlash. I'm changing nothing!).
I'll post up some pages from #2 as soon as I can. Promise!
Here's that pin-up in shiney colours.
Those ARE shiny colours - will you be at any cons, sir?
I'll definitely be at Glasgow Comic Con and Kapow.
90% sure I'll be at Thought Bubble.
Issue 2 is now available! Full info: http://nomoreheroescomic.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/issue-2-is-here-4-2/ (http://nomoreheroescomic.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/issue-2-is-here-4-2/)
Going to KAPOW this weekend? I'll be at stall 23. Pop by, pick up an issue, please.
Here's a bit of #2:

Screw you, Shako! - No More Heroes #2 kicks your shaggy white arse.
I suspect you're just too polite to further push No More Heroes #2 on this here forum, Gordy, but being a reader and in no way tied to the project I'm not.
Guys, buy it. Check out the preview, buy it, enjoy it. You should, you should, you will. No surprise seeing it referred to on Bleeding Cool as a sleeper hit.
Never mind the actual plot, which is developing with all the darkly grinning momentum #1 led me to expect after so unique an opening set-up. Never mind the rest of the art, which is just plain great.
Issue #2 has the best polar bear sequence in it since Shako. I know we're all expecting some polar bear action with Lenny Zero's upcoming return but... nah... it's going to have to really push the ice-breaker out to beat what NMH manages to deliver in just two pages. Effing beautiful stuff.
And then there's the whole rest of the issue... which has me feeling all kinds of cheap about for buying digitally. Still, if I didn't save money that way how else would I have spare cash to buy beer to spit out while reading this?
Gordon:
I already shouted out on this over on The Other Board We Frequent, but...
Just got this today. Really unsettling work. Digging it greatly.
Issue 2 arrived this morning. Really good stuff especially the bits in the hell hole bar even the Mos Eisley cantina looks a bit tame after it.The story's moving along very well and that poor Polar bear!!! :o
Will pick up number 2, loved number 1.
than pin up is odd, because the arm round whatsisname is well out of proportion.
or have I missed something? I usually do...

You did miss something. It'll be obvious why once you read #2.
Yep, in #2 you find out what that weirdly proportioned guy is all about (and what a bloody scene stealer he is! I ended up giving him more page time than originally intended).
Thank you so much, everyone, for your kind words and being so supportive of our wee comic. It still amazes me (and cheers me up no end) that everyone's been so positive about it. Still, my dour Scottish heart tells me the day will come when it's denounced as Satanic garbage or something like that. :)
And here's a preview from #3 - a call-back to the zoo scene - with more animal destruction-y goodness:
Bastard elephants.
If it helps they were Nazi elephants who hated Christmas.
Things are continuing to go well. Managed to get copies into the hands of editors from Image, Titan and DC at Kapow Con as well as John McCrea, Warren Ellis and Frank Quitely. Sold lots of issues, no one asked for a refund, no one hit me - all wins.
And... *puts on shameless selling hat*... we're down to the last 20 copies of issue 1! There'll be no reprint so when they're gone, they're gone. Last chance for anyone who's tempted or wants to take a chance on these been worth at least a fiver on eBay some day.

I'll be at Glasgow Comic Con this weekend with a table full of copies of NMH for discerning guests (or anyway with a spare couple of quid, really). If you're at the Con come over, say hello, and then buy something so I don't have to throw a harpoon at you. :D
Also, NMH is up for 2 SICBA awards at the Con - best comic and best writer. If you like NMH please take the time to vote for us (voting is open on Saturday only).
Congrats Gordy and No More Heroes: http://downthetubescomics.blogspot.com/2012/07/no-heroes-but-one-award.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Downthetubesnet-TheBlog+%28downthetubes.net+-+British+Comics+News%29.
Thanks!
Getting the award was an incredible, shocking moment, especially as the likes of Jim Starlin, John Wagner, Alan Grant etc were in the audience. An experience I'll never forget, despite the best attempts of all the free drinks.
Well done mate - good luck with getting a publisher on board.
Thanks! With the award boost I'm gonna make a new push for picking up a publisher. Or sit on the sofa watching kung fu movies and eating Cheerios. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. :)
Caio's now on to the final few pages of issue 3 so expect it shortly. Here's a wee preview:

A wee teaser:
Time for a shameless bit of self promotion: issue 3 of my comic is now available. It's dead good, honest guv! The tally is one award (Best Comic at this year's Scottish Independent Comic Book Awards), no death threats (well, so far).
Full info, first half of #1, teaser art, con photos (shameless cosplay alert!) etc can be found on our website: http://nomoreheroescomic.wordpress.com/ (http://nomoreheroescomic.wordpress.com/)
And here's a wee sample from the new, penultimate issue.

Going to Thought Bubble? I'll be at table 89 in the Royal Armouries Hall. Come say hi, tease me with the prospect of buying an issue before breaking my heart and walking away. :)

The fourth and final issue is now on sale. Time for answers. Trust me: you really don't know what's coming.
