I know thus is *way* off topic, but I just wanted to say here publicly just how bad I feel about Joe Strummer's death on Sunday.
The Clash changed my life and I'm gutted that Joe is no longer around.
Well we could bring it back on topic by saying that 2000ad was brough about by the punk revolution going on in the streets, but that would be too Anal?!?!?! :-)
Im gutted, the clash, the pistols and a number of Post punk bands (80's) crafted my music taste. Joe farewell......
yer Slippo
Should he stay or should he go?
Sad news.

Having been out and about all eekend and not seen any papers or anything, this is the first I've heard of this, and it's a big shock. A bad year, first Dee Dee Ramone, now Joe.
RIP. No more heroes.
Good grief !! how did he die?
I saw him at glasgow barrowlands last november(ish). don't remember much about the music But the mosh pit & beers shampoo was great. The beer was very expensive but it was a great chance to perfect my pint lobb technique followed by ducking beneath huge sweaty blokes to avoid angry security guys.
I wasn't sure if it was all a bit sad, like a 30 somthing reunion, but everybody was all so nice, strange how all the subversive grow up & look normal... yet underneath it all we've got heros of the punk era etc to thank that we ain't normal at all...no surree.
very sad news, cos a year ago he was leaping about like the best of them....
I heard heart attack, but it's not been confirmed yet.
The real question is how the hell Shane McGowan has outlived him.
Bizarre.

...and teh UK SUBS are STILL playing gigs in pubs. As they will be, it seems, till the end of time.
Fallen heros live on
Yeah eddie and hotrods seem to go on and on too. I saw Joe strummer support the Who last year and he was ok. The clash really do it for me though, its sad to see an originator go
Aye, a sad day. The world is lessened by his passing.
Did you see that he did a benefit gig for the striking firefighters last month, ahhhh solidarity with the deceased man!
in the space of what, 18 months, Dee Dee and Joey, Entwhistle, Harrison and now Strummer?
*God Damn*
Like a true Punk "Go straight to Hell boy".
eggy blubs into pint, + lights up a special
A Tragic loss, his last gig was here in Liverpool a few weeks back (which for once I couldn't get to).
He fused rockabilly and reggae into punk with style and was a King in Punkland, We've lost another rock legend noy that many of today's chart buying public care.
Eddie
(A Stranglers Fanatic)
yes the world has lost a true rock icon.
only 50 i heard? a loss to the world of music.
whilst he may not be mourned by the teen boppers of today. he will be remebered for years to come for his music.a truly lasting memorail.
:-(
Oddgirl (kind of) met him in Tower Records (Piccadilly Circus) in the spring (she didn't talk to him because he was his mobile to Alex James) - (she didn't talkt to him but yes she did hang about eavesdropping on his conversation!)
Great unhappiness, especially after Joey & DeeDee.
'Punk is dead'
Still - he had a better innings then Sid Vicious...
Still - he had a better innings then Sid Vicious...
Or really, if you think about it, John Lydon ...shudder...
"he may not be mourned by the teen boppers of today"
WHat can I say, are we teenagers trully now social outcasts? Are we not also allowed to mourn the passing of one of the greats?
And also, now all of our legends are dieing, who will replace them? The cheekigirls?
Where has all our music gone?
There's a moving tribute to the great man in a big article on the front page of today's Independent. Read it on the link below :-

Sadly, the second singer from Stereolab went too recently after being knocked off their bike in London.
Never was that much into The Clash as there was little humour there compared to other Punk bands and they always seemed to be associated with politics yet I never noticed them say anything specific in the tunes (much like the Manic Street Preachers), but he seemed like a nice guy.
