A year after it went to dvd, and at least six months since you could pick it up for about a fiver online, PRIMEVAL SERIES 5 premiers tonight, saturday, on ITV1 at six.
I have no idea what itv are doing, but there you go. Anyone interested, but with sour memories of series four (when the show went cheap, filmed in dublin on empty streets) will be pleased to hear that five is a significant improvement. And also that yes, much does get 'wrapped up'.

This is being shown because ITV were a major investor in the series and are thinking about commissioning a sixth series. But it depends on terrestial telly viewing figures.

We went YAY when we heard a new series was starting then went "Oh" when we realised it was Series 5. It does some ages since we got it on DVD.
Anyway, we'd hit record series before we realised.
Can someone explain to me how viewing figures work? How will me pretending to watch the version I've recorded help?

The show is great, it just needs money which ITV are short of. They were a minor investor I think, I think 2Entertain put money in (I beleive BBC Worldwide own that outright after Woolworths crashed and burned) and the owners of Watch. Not forgetting IPL of course.
Yeah... I still find it daft that Woolworths went bust when they owned half of 2Entertain... Ladybird Books... Distribution of DVDs & Audio to Zavvi (partly causing their downfall), WHS, major Supermarkets & others. But that ios a different morbid story.
A sixth uk season is highly unlikely, as the first canadian season is approaching completion.
Sadly, the promised tone seems to be very different than the show we know, with it being more of a straight 'adult sci fi' series- i presume like stargate or some guff like that. And, most distressingly, no ben miller.
