Wonder what he'll be like as a filmmaker???
I'll ask him how he's gonna go about it tomorrow, unless I'm too drunk to remember ;)
Name drop time *CLANG!*.
One of my best mates started and built up the excellent Lex records label, releasing music by fantastic, groundbreaking artists such as DOOM, Neon Neon, Boom Bip, Dr. Who Dat and Dangermouse amongst many others including, last year, the Unearthed album by Alan Moore and a host of innovative musicians.
Now, he is producing Alan Moore's first foray into cinema with the first in a series of short films scripted by Moore and directed by Mitch Jenkins.

Really looking forward to this, and my mate is really excited about it. He's got some other collaborations in the pipeline with Alan but I'm not allowed to talk about them.
For the record, he says Alan is really nice.

I meant, of course, the
Unearthing album...

Ah, good. It's nice to have something current from the man to loudly proclaim my indifference towards.
Don't worry Batson, nobody seems to give a flying fuck about this topic no matter who brings it up.

I do!!!
Can't wait to see these. Not much to judge at the moment - just the poster and the vaguely worded description - but I predict they'll be infinitely better than any of the Hollywood productions of his work. If nothing else, they'll have been
written specifically for their medium, which makes a huge difference.
and then they'll do a comic adadptation which he'll disown... :D
Any idea when this will be out?
I wouldn't worry about no-one seemingly being interested - Moore is a polorising figure and there's a couple of other discussions about him going on already on other threads, that's all there is to the seeming silence here. I daresay more than a few are interested in this film, if only to slag it off.
Thanks for this. Of course I wish Alan Moore every success but unfortunatly the britsh film industry although talented probably lacks the financial backing needed to make an Alan Moore script work. Although perhaps if it was animated?
late to the party...

I'm certainly interested. Would expect it to be more arty than box office busting that's for sure.
Also looking at the Unearthing stuff with great interest. When I saw your reference to DOOM (Lee) I thought that was strange but of course it's not Doom, but DOOM. I don't mean doom as in metal but the crust punk band, featuring at one point Mick Harris on drums, formerly of Napalm Death, alongside Justin Broadrick, involved in Unearthing. Weird! Kind of like Batson's meta-link in this post :o And Mike Patton too? Very interested in that, some mates were thinking he's been a bit quiet lately, so there's that.
So yeah, cheers for the link to that!
I'm so glad he's creating his own film to say, " See, just come up with an idea that's new!"
He's going to be pretty smart about it as usual.
