I'm not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere but the film seems to lend itself so well to the structure of a computer game, but I have not heard anything about a movie tie-in game . . .. Anything coming?
No.
Not a movie tie-in, but there is an iOS Dredd Gamebook due out shortly. Several forum members have tested it, and have said its rather good.
Apparently, the reason for the lack of a tie in game is that Rebellion took on some very large projects and just don't have the time/resources at the moment.
Presumably it would be fairly easy to re-skin Judge Death Vs Zombies to make it tie in with the movie Dredd - wave after wave of baddies, tackling one level of a building at a time, slow motion etc - but I don't know the situation regarding rights.
They could always do a game after the movie is out and a huge success, there will probably be more demand then.
Movie franchise games are traditionally horrible, developed by second rate teams, so I hope they never make a game based on the Dredd films.
A Judge Dredd game along the lines of Batman Arkham City however would be spectacular! Both as a single player RPG as Dredd and/or as co-op creating your own Judge. A Skyrim style game with a vast open world MC-1 would also be fantastic.

I agree but Dredd against the Peach Tree Block isn't too far away from Batman Arkham Asylum situation-wise so if they were able to do it justice (sorry) it could be a decent tie-in
Rebellion must have plans for a new Dredd game at some point....I would have thought that a priority with a major film coming out.

All ready been said -from an official source I believe- that Rebellion are obligated to fulfill other contracts, all ready in place, and they don't have the resources at this time for a Dredd game.
Probably have to wait for the sequel for the official game.
V
And as a small self contained movie, Dredd (1) would make a good first half of a longer game.

Yes I saw that. It's a shame, I think...maybe its time they expand the team, hire more developers.
If they started it now, or announce it right off the bat of Dredd, there will be a higher demand. They should do it, blow off their other commitments! (unless it was another avp)

Yeah - I mean surely they would earn more out of a Dredd game as they own the rights to it?
<shakes head>
Alternatively, Rebellion might just be a responsible developer which is aware of its resources and schedules and has carefully considered the long-term financial implications of jeopardising its current business in favour of a massively expensive (perceived as) movie tie-in gamble, particularly seeing as that particular type is almost universally the most derided of all species of game.
You secure that shit, TB!
FFS.
For the VERY last time, we have no plans to create a tie-in game based on DREDD or Judge Dredd at this time. We have just delivered two massive games after several years in development, as well as having others in the pipeline, and our schedule is currently full.
For everyone's sake, if you have a question please search the forum FIRST as in all likelihood it has already been answered. In this case, several times.

He's subtle that Molcher fella, subtle.
What they're really working on is Dredd vs. Aliens vs. Predators.
Has anyone notice that the slo mo, bullet time, blood fountaining, gore shots in DREDD are eerily similar to the
slop mo, x ray vision, blood fountaining, skull shattering gore shots in Sniper 2 Rebellions latest Game release?
Wonder which influenced which? Stuff the would be DREDD Game anyway so long as the DREDD movie is good 'nowt else matters.

You've just delivered TWO massive games, one based on DREDD & one on Judge Dredd the comic?
AND there's more in the pipeline?
WOO-HOO!

Yeah but this was from a in the future point of view, as in when the movie comes out. You may be planning one then, no? Or after then? You can't predict how Dredd is gonna go down, it could be the biggest film of all time and people could be rioting for lack of a Dredd game! You never really know.

I should probably go too for starting this!
I'm starting to feel sorry for poor Molch-R...
Given the sales of the games Rebellion work on and sales of a Dredd game... I think it is likely that financially Rebellion are best off not doing a Dredd game at this time.
I like to think of Rebellion as being dedicated to each arm independently artisticly. Who knows they may subsidise one with another but unlike previous owners they aren't out to wring every Galactic Groat they can out of 2000AD 'franchise' (I hate that word...) or IP (I prefer that one though it isn't accurate really).
I'd like a Judge Dredd MMORPPROG or a Rogue Trooper MMORPPROG that had actual roleplay, unlike WoW et al. (I have had very bad experiences of people actually bugging me deliberately because I had the cheek to RP on an RP server...) but A) they aren't making one and B) only six people would probably play it properly (extremely rough estimate pulled out of the air) and C) they couldn't afford online GMs to ensure people actually played properly.
Managing the expectation of customers must be a nightmare Molch-R old roboty dude.

So is there gonna be a game or not? ;)
I'd rather a Peach Trees board-game.

Monopoly though instead of going straight to jail you go straight out the window to splat on the rockcrete below.
You have won 200 creds in an ugly contest...
Can we not just have mega-city monopoly please? And a video game version for the ds?

I would imagine that Hasbro, having the erm... Monopoly on it would want a fairly large cut.

Instead of a top-hat or a sports car or a wheel-barrow...a Judge helmet, an H-Wagon and a Belly Wheel!
Instead of a Peach Trees board game, I'd prefer a re-release of Block Mania / Mega Mania. Maybe change Sly Stallone Block to Peach Trees Block to tie in with the new movie...
Dredd Risk. (or Rogue Risk...)
Dredd Monopoly
Update Block Mania (but retro compatable)
MMORPG - NO, NEVER! I wouldn't want to saddle Rebellion with the monstrous cost of one of those things. Those things are a curse.
TBH unless Rebellion started development around the time DREDD went into production, there's no chance of a DREDD game for this movie. My guess would be that they wait and see, and if DREDD gets picked up for a sequel Rebellion may develop a tie in game.

Thats actually a brilliant idea!!
Marvel have released one for PS3 and Xbox that has tables for Wolverine, Iron Man, Blade and Spiderman (with more available as DLC)
A 2000AD one with Dredd, Rogue Trooper, ABC Warriors, Slaine, Nemesis, Ace Trucking.... WoW!! I'd buy the shit out of that!
Ace Trucking Pinball!!! Now that is a thought.
Dr and Quinch Pinball would be pretty sweet too
I'm curious to know what Rebellion are developing, they're last title (Sniper Elite II?) is out and I don't see any projects being shown. they're also recruiting atm.
DR & Quinch Pinball to publicise a DR & Quinch movie.
No idea how well the GN went down over in USA but I'd expect a DR & Quinch movie would be a runaway hit in USA...
Problem with pinball is the machines are so expensive to produce and so expensive to buy. I have a Family Guy one here at home but only because I did some of the artwork on the machine so I took one as payment but I'm sometimes tempted to sell it when people start offering ridiculous amounts of money at you. I drool over the Dredd one on eBay regularly though. Someday. Someday...

Every other town has one these days, so it must be reasonably easy to get a licence to do it, though a lot of it tends to be advertising centred. Or I could dig out my old Visual Basic version from Uni
Always meant to get round to doing an online version of the board game (turn based arresting one). I guess it would have to be an app now!
You can get 2 types of make your own Monopoly, one (cheap) where you use templates and print your own places etc. and (expensive) where you can do it all online and it will be made and shipped to you. I'm not sure how much control you'd have over things like changing the beauty contest chance card to an ugly contest or anything like that, perhaps just the place names.
