Title: Hellboy 3
Post by: Goaty on 16 July, 2012, 09:19:06 AM
If any of you reading or see news about how big heart Ron Perlman as Hellboy visit a boy part of Make A Wish Foundation... Ron always the legend!

Now Guillermo Del Toro interested in making a Hellboy 3!

Guillermo Del Toro has revealed that he's interested in making a third film in the Hellboy franchise, after being inspired by Ron Perlman's recent in-character visit to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Perlman recently attended a function held by the charity for two young Hellboy fans, donning the full costume in order to make their dreams of meeting the comic-book character come true. Guillermo Del Toro was reportedly moved by the love for the character that still exists among the younger fanbase, and is now keen to get a third film up and running.

"I can say publicly that now we are together in trying [to do Hellboy 3]" said Del Toro to Entertainment Weekly. "We're going to make an effort to do it. I hope it happens."

Unsurprisingly, Perlman is already keen to reprise his role as Big Red. "The [first] two movies were really set up to have this unbelievable resolve," Perlman told EW. "Everything that was done in both movies was leading up to this destiny, written in stone, of what Hellboy has been summoned to Earth to do."

"To not do it, particularly in light of the scope that Guillermo is thinking of for the resolve, would be in my mind a little bit of a shame." Whether the studio will see it in quite such emotive terms is doubtful, but it does at least sound like the enthusiasm is there from the creative team. Watch this space...

Well I've been wanting a new hellboy film - espeicially the 3rd installment in what has been a great series of films so far. However, I've read many interviews and articles on Guillermo Del Toro stating that he felt it unlikely the 3rd Hellboy film would ever get made even though he knew where he wanted to take the movie in the 3rd installment when he was making The Golden Army. This reluctance to commit to another 3rd Hellboy movie was of course due to Del Toro's constant list of projects he is working on, as well as Ron Perlman's age. With the previous aspect; Del Toro has had many projects he has wanted to lead and even maybe direct that have been quashed or that have failed or that he has left e.g. The Hobbit, At the Mountains of Madness etc In recent years Del Toro has said these have stood in the way of making another Hellboy film, but surely enough if these projects have failed now for him to focus on Hellboy 3 as a realistic possibility and while Ron Perlman is still not too old. Previously when I thought a 3rd Hellboy film would not get made for many years, and certainly without Ron Perlman, I was recasting Hellboy - maybe Nathan Fillion in the main role...but Hellboy without the cast we have come to know, especially Ron Perlman was still quite unthinkable. I'd say Hellboy 3 would probably be the last in del Toro's Hellboy trilogy and it needs to be made in the coming years before Perlman is too old for the physicality of the part.

Yeah, he's great. I understand wasn't keen on getting back behind all that make-up, but I'm glad he appears to be up for another outing in the role. I imagine it will be his last, but that's probably a good thing.

To be fair, it's probably now impossible to design a robot that doesn't look at least a bit like a robot from somewhere else.

But, on the subject of similarities, I thought that trailer was going to be for an adaptation of the game of the same name to begin with.
