Title: Judge Dredd - Year One - on Kindle
Post by: COMMANDO FORCES on 10 August, 2012, 06:32:14 PM
It seems that Tharg has released his Earh servant Matt Smith for a few hours, so he could write this first year of DREDD for the Kindle!

Only problem with that is that Judge Dredd: Year One isn't based on when he was a cadet - it's his first year on the streets after graduating...

All smart phones should be able to download the free app. You can also download the Kindle player onto your PC.

Ag- If you are getting it for a download of the Kindle app- buy the book through the app- not the website. I've just bought it twice. Sigh...

Will it be available in print?

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but at 93 pages I doubt that it would see print unless it was part of a 200-300 page anthology.

E-publishing gives the flexibility to knock out anything of any length that wouldn't necessarily work otherwise printed.

I have 500 books of all periods of history and even few of the classics that I have are an under 100 page book.

Only one I can think of is Turn of the Screw.

No plans for this, no.

Halo 572- Yeah, but did you like it?

I did, and would be happy to read more like this. There are a few minor nerd niggles with it but I really enjoyed it. I found it to be a great read on my phone, in fact it is the first thing I've read like that and I was pleasantly surprised.

Surely you can get it from your laptop/pc to your phone? Even something like emailing it to your phone and opening the book from there should get it on... At least I think that's what I did once in a similar situation!

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but I thought it amusing enough to share with Kindle owners: http://boingboing.net/2012/10/22/kindle-user-claims-amazon-dele.html

They can't do that if you have a physical copy!

As I say on there it seems like they might have broken the Amazon terms and conditions on banned books in certain markets. Don't know if that is the reason but if they did do that it's no wonder they got shut out.

Another reason to copy the files and back them up!

Amazon ended up reversing the decision a couple of days ago (probably more to do with the bad publicity than anything else).

It's very easy to keep your Kindle purchases backed up on your PC and there is free software available to convert any Kindle purchases to other DRM free formats in case you decide to buy a different E-reader in the future, I would never have bought one otherwise.

Anyway, I recently finished the year one novella and it was excellent, more please Mr Smith :)
