totally missed series four ,did it not come on sky movies? or did it just jump to cartoon network? doing a big catch up viewing til series 5 is on (any dates for uk showing?) some good episodes apart from the c3po and gungans.
I have the first 2 series on dvd and have never ever seen it :S
Part of me thought it was a good idea but part of me railed against the fact it meant Samurai Jack getting canned.
We have first two series and the pilot movie here, and i have to admit i love it. I make no bones about much preferring the prequels to the original trilogy these days- and preferring the clone wars tv series to any of the movies. It's just the best star wars thing ever, once it gets going towards the end of season one. You may well ask why then, do i only have the first two series? I have no idea- probably lack of cash and that star wars has ceased to be a 'very important thing' in our house. But as soon as i find season three cheap enough, you can bet i'll snap it up.
SBT
Haven't seen any of Season 4 on the telly actually, but I think my son reported seeing some on Cartoon Network (we don't have the fancy channels at home). DVDs should be about October/November.
season 4 ender
darth maul returns!!!
Season 1 or 2 has, if I remember, the awesome silent episode where Mace Windu takes out an entire droid army. That rocks.

I fear you and your twisted master Professor Byah are trying to turn me to anger with your insidious words. But I'll bite anyway: fear is the path to the Dark Side, after all.
That particular one is from Volume 1 (Containing Seasons 1 and 2) of Tartakovsky's
Clone Wars (2004-5), and not Dave Filoni's
The Clone Wars (2007-present): Mace fighting a giant tectonic stomping weapon on Dantooine. It is, as you say,
awesome.
I fear it is my old man memory rather than any guile!
Same canon, TB.

The Clone Wars film (I assume that's what you mean by the pilot?) is the only DVD in that series that I own, although I have seen a few of the series episodes on the telly. (I don't think I've seen any of series IV.)
I came to the film quite late having missed it at the cinema. (I wanted to watch it, but the friend I was with at the time felt embarrassed about going into the cinema to watch 'a cartoon'. To be fair, she is a good girl, pretty open minded otherwise and would probably happily watch it on DVD with me. )
I remember reading negative opinions on the film (probably on this forum) but I enjoyed it.
As mentioned on the Movie thread, I do own the first two of the original 2D animated Clone Wars cartoon though. They're great.
I'd like to get the others too, but like SBT, money's a bit of a factor in that regard.
Concerning
the return of Darth Maul
I really enjoyed the series 3 (I think it's 3) episodes concerning Asajj Ventris's return to
The Night Sisters of Dathomir
and the subplot concerning
Savage Opress (silly name aside) and Count Dooku.
As for the reveal at the end that
Darth Maul was still out there,
I remember feeling quite excited about that.
Thinking about it now, I have mixed feelings
as it could be argued to lessen Padawan Obi-Wan's achievement at the end of the Phantom Menace, (although, I'd say soundly defeating him was achievement enough regardless of whether or not it caused death) but I'm still curious and would like to see how it works out. Coming back from being sliced in half and falling into a big pit is silly though. I suppose one could get around it as that kind of injury, while fatal, doesn't always kill a person instantly (horrific thought) and light saber's by their nature cauterise wounds... and sci-fi tech, but... well.... silly.
Surviving the fall itself is easily explainable where powerful force users are concerned. Slowing their descent is just part of their force telekinetic ability after all but taking all those things together... silly, silly, silly.
On the other hand I really like the character and it will be good to see more of him. Although it turns out half of him. And as I said, I'm curious.
Noooo, that's not true, that's impossible...!
Canon is just another word for dictated orthodoxy, and that's what the Rebellion stood against.
It's all the same universe, TB - kids' cartoons on telly. As far as I am concerned, the Droids cartoon show is just as valid as anything else, as is the Ewoks 'toon, which I think could do with a comeback. Not sarcasm - I genuinely think it would do well.
Just read Mardroid's spoiler tags and fuck me, I didn't half cut bait on that show at the right time...

One of the things you missed if you bailed before Season 4 was a superb two-part homage to
Droids, with Threepio and Artoo pinballing around the galaxy
Gulliver's Travels-style, accidentally overthrowing despots and hitching lifts with pirates. It was just plain great -
much better than Season 3's first stab at the idea, which had the two boys' adventures shopping for fruit. I'd be fairly sure these were toe-in-the-water experiments to see how a spinoff series would fare. Sadly, I think they were generally poorly received by the majority of assholes who believe SW is all about trenchcoats and genocide.
As to Mardroid's spoiler tags, brother that isn't the
half of it - that specific plotline gets far, far worse.

George Lucas doesn't seem to take any notice of SW fans or what they like or want, and while it's a double-edged sword, it does at least guarantee that he won't make decisions based on the opinions of the kind of asshole you describe.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I got on with the Ewoks just fine when I was a kid, and so did plenty of other people I know. I see no reason to Stalin-style revise my childhood memories just to fall in line with a bunch of idiots who cannot countenance in adulthood that
when they were kids they liked teddy bears.

I have said something similar very recently, and cannot concur heartily enough, Prof.
Cheers

He bloody well does - Revenge of the Sith felt like a (admittedly misguided) two hour long apology. "You like lightsabers? You like X Wings? You want me to get rid of Jar Jar?".

Agreed. Lucas has two modes these days: "Feck 'em and their idea of what SW is, I'm the genius in charge here, lets try, ehhh,
this. No, wait,
that!"; and "Shite, they didn't like this
or that, musn't kill the golden goose, what
do the bastards like... jetpacks? Oh I know, Darth Maul! Lets try
two Darth Mauls
and jetpacks!".
I prefer the first mode.
