Title: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Post by: Colin YNWA on 03 October, 2012, 06:06:26 PM
Well don't think we have a thread on this one... so now we do.

Looks like the sequel to the excellent if rubbishly titled 'Rise of the Planet of the Ape'  the equally rubbishy titles Dawn of the Planet of the Ape has a director, Matt Reeves of 'Cloverfield' fame. 'Cloverfield' was pretty good, infuriating characters aside so we'll see how this goes. Has this bloke done much of interest since then? The only film he's directed on IMDB is something called 'Let me in' which I've not even heard of (which isn't saying much actually these days)

Let Me In is the US remake of Let the Right One In.

You see you say that as though it helps me, but all is does is increase the number of films I've never heard of here to 2... arh imdb you are my friend...

I hope it's not going to be a very-shaky-cam-held-by-an-ape movie  :)

More worryingly the original director left as he didn't think the schedule would give him enough time to tell the story as originally envisioned. Hopefully we won't end up with a half baked sequel to what was one of the best films of last year.

Shouldn't the Dawn come before the Rise?

Maybe Dawn's a lady ape?

I like the rubbish titles. Makes them more like 'proper' Planet of The Apes films.

"Pulpy" and "rubbish" aren't the same thing.  I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what it's called as most people will already know if they want to go see a Planet of the Apes movie regardless of what they think of the title.

Maybe Dawn's a lady ape?

But then it would surely have to be "Dawn off of the Planet of the Apes" you know in proper English like.

Let Me In is a fantastic vampire movie, made by Hammer. It's better than Cloverfield (which I like).

I think Dawn of the Planet of the Apes could be seen as more regal or authoritative in an "olde" English manner, like the Sheriff of Nottingham or something like that.

I actually preferred it to the original, cos it sort of hints at more. I do remember a real dodgy SFX scene with the vampire attack in the tunnel letting it down a bit tho.
