I hate these threads, I never know what to write.
Just throw out a few basics I guess.
Long time 2000AD reader from Australia here (Tasmania actually). Can't say I collected every issue growing up, but I grabbed every issue I could find, from the early 80's onwards, and picking up back issues and fills for my collection at a local second hand bookstore that used to get a lot of comics in. Then in the 90's, with the comic shop boom, I was able to collect far more regularly, and fill in a lot more gaps. Then the internet opened up even more gap filling options. These days my collection is a straight run as far as 2000AD is concerned, from 1 to current. Megazines, annuals and specials are in a pretty healthy (largely complete) state too. So, yeah, guess I'm a fan.
Favourite characters/strips? Call me a populist, but Judge Dredd (and Anderson), Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper, ABC Warriors, and Nemesis the Warlock would have to be top of my list.
Because my reading was so fragmented over so many years, there are strips and stories that I never actually read, and I'm actually currently doing something that I've been meaning to do for years now, ever since getting my collection into a decent run, but just never quite gotten around to. That is, reading every story of my favourite characters in sequence, from the start of 2000AD (or Starlord in one case) through to whatever the current prog is by the time that I finish. I'm starting with Dredd (and related characters), Strontium Dog, and Rogue Trooper, as they are my absolute favourites. And once I'm all the way through with those, I may do likewise with certain other strips (if I'm not too burnt out). Basically when I need a break from Dredd, I read a bunch of one of the others. I'm currently up to somewhere in 1985 with my Dredd reading, but have taken a break for now and started in on Strontium Dog for a bit. Haven't started Rogue yet, probably won't until SD is exhausted as my current backup read. Kind of wanted to get Dredd and SD up to about the same point before the crossovers anyhow.
Um, what else. I used to lurk the 2000Ad forums and site a couple years back, but never joined in large part due to certain individual who still seems to be a plague on the net (but thankfully, not here any longer) to this very day. Had a couple of run ins with him elsewhere, wasn't interested in any more. So I just lurked on and off.
So why now? I dunno. Boredom. New movie. New merchandise. The fact that I'm finally doing my long delayed big read through. Boredom again. The fact that the forum seems pretty grounded these days, while a great deal of others seem to be going way off the rails and into destination crazyville. Plus, boredom. I may have mentioned that one.
I also tend to ramble, sorry about that.
Anyway, greetings and salutations. And once my eventual citizenship comes through, I guess I'll see you all around the boards.
Welcome aboard Judge Fish
We have a few on the forum from that small land mass to the North of you but I do believe you may be the first from Tasmania.
By the way, I'm mightily impressed with your dedication to Thargs organ. It must have been fun collecting everything and yet, as I see from another thread you ain't finished yet!!
Yeah, well, it's been a decades long mini-obsession I guess...though to be honest most of the earliest issues I have aren't exactly in the best shape. Reading copies would be putting it kindly, so I don't think I'll ever retire on the monetary worth of my stash.
Thanks for the welcome. :D
And that I may be the only Tasmanian on the board somehow doesn't surprise me, funnily enough...
Hi Judge Fish, welcome sir.
Interesting that you say new merchandise brought you back to some degree. I agree- give the masses ephemeral, but related silliness, and it draws them closer to the sourse material. Wish there was more of it- action figures, toys, lunchboxes and wotnot.
Anyway, welcome and have fun.

The fact that I'm finally doing my long delayed big read through.
Ohhh have fun with that. I only finished mine about 18 months ago and I'm hankering after going again... but it will have to wait.
Welcome aboard and have fun.
Thanks for the welcomes folks, much appreciated.
I dunno, I think that sometimes when you are reminded of things that you already have a love or passion for, it helps keep it fresh and alive in a way. Not just merchandise either, but I think things like web forums and conventions kind of work in that way too a lot of the time.
Or maybe I'm just too easily distracted by shiny things...
Welcome Judge Fish. I assumed all your posts would consist only of the word 'blup!', leaving us to interpret the meaning but I'm glad to see that's not the case.
How do Judge Fish, and welcome to the forum
Glad you feel its safe to join. I missed out on the worst that 'he who shall not be named' caused, but have seen his 'work' on here, and other sites. Shudder.
Thanks.
I've been online since '96 (God I feel old...) and to this day I still have no idea what possesses someone to go on crazy fanboy jihads like that. Mystifies me, it truly does.
As for merely saying bloop, unfortunately I'm way too longwinded of an old trout for that.
