Title: American Horror Story: Asylum
Post by: The Enigmatic Dr X on 20 November, 2012, 08:48:35 PM
No love for this? It is stunningly good.

It's right up an average forumite's street.

Alien abduction - check
Mad scientist - check
Dr Moreau creatures - check
Creepy asylum - check
Evil nuns - check
Demonic possession - check
Of foxy blonde nun - check
Insane maniac patients - check
Serial killers - check

What's not to love? It's even Zachary "Sylar" Quinto and Jessica "loads of stuff" Lange.

And the creepiest opening credits ever.

Nearly as good as The Booth at the End.

Loadsa love for this Doc, and it's one of the very few shows I'll watch with the missus too.
It genuinely has the best production values on TV at the mo IMO.

Any punts on who 'Bloody Face' will turn out to be???

I enjoyed season 1, but for some reason i am struggling with the same actors playing different roles. i know i should get over it but they must have made such an impact on me to start with.
also when the sexy nun pulled down her pants and asked to be punished i became all confused... :-[ ;)

Yep, loving every over-the-top minute, and really enjoying the format (same players, different era/roles). The missus' favourite show at the moment. I'd have to say, for me, Boardwalk Empire has the best production values, but this is a close second. Favourite character so far has to be Dr Arden, James Cromwell is the man!

It's absolutely fantastic. Off the scale stuff. By the end of episode 5 it already seems like near everything has reached its conclusion and theres 8 episodes to go! No idea where this is going and i love it!

Yeah, we had this exact same discussion after last week's episode, felt like the penultimate one and we're not even mid-season yet! The missus is really good at predicting the plot of a movie or TV show - she sees things coming waaaaay before I do, but even she admits defeat on this one  :)

I'll second that- he's great. Still sprightly enough for a man of his age too.

That guy they got to play his
younger self in the Auschwitz flashback
must be his son in real life!

Loving the way the new series is using a few of the same actors in their new roles. Last weeks exorcism was superb, especially the flying priest!

WHAT AN EPISODE :o

This series is right up there with my all time favourites ever. It would take ages to mention all the insane/creepy strands that are being woven around and through each episode. The highlight of the last episode was the ending with Zachary Quinto, just brilliant!

100% agree- I could see it coming a mile off, but the tense build up and reveal was brilliantly executed.
Great, great episode.

Meself and Mary watched the first episode the last night, very interesting, will watch more but the whole
alien
bit seemed a bit out of place.

Hello.

I was lurking, reading this thread. I didn't know what you were talking about with this Booth at the End thing so I checked it out. Jovis, tis good. I'm glad you mentioned it.

I will be getting stuck into the second series of American Horror Story soon of course.

Well, what an episode!

Loads of exciting things on screen but Ian McShane as that demented Santa was sublime :o

Watched episode 10 last night. The Name Game song was fantastically done. Really joyous scene made quite a contrast to the relentless misery and horror. Great stuff.

Ian McShane is a legend - great to see him playing this character, and I hope they pull him in for the 3rd season (if one happens)

He's brilliant in Deadwood.

I thought so too- The Name Game song was a genuine laugh out load moment for me and the missus.
Only 3 episodes left...its getting quite hard not to Google those spoilers!

Gotta agree with the Name Game song, a bit from the Glee creators finally snuck in but it was pure brilliance and such a surprise but not as much as a surprise as that ending :o

And here is the song, don't forget to dance along ;) The Name Game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76y9tR4CY4U)
