We are proud to announce the Judge Minty will be screening at the Glasgow Film Festival.
Tuesday the 19th of February at 18:30

It will be followed by a discussion regards fan film making.The programme says 'led by Steven Sterlacchini', but anyone who has seen me attempt public speaking will be relieved, that I will only be a part of the discussion, not leading it. Hopefully another member of Team Minty might be able to make it as well.
I've had a quick look through the rest of the programme and there are some amazing films being shown, so we are honoured that they have found a place for us. During the festival Dredd is also being screened and a discussion with John Wagner and Colin MacNeil!

The GFF's never very good for new films but there are a few other interesting things on over the course of it. Screenings of Jaws, Highlander, Aliens, John Dies at the End, Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing for starters.
Then the music/film strand has a live accompaniment to Dark Star (http://www.glasgowfilm.org/festival/whats_on/4679_dark_star_with_live_animat_soundrack). I was underwhelmed by a similar showing of Silent Running last year but who knows. I think this sort of thing will work a lot better with silent film, so this looks a bit more promising, as well as being a chance to see a couple of interesting old sci-fi films: Frau im Mond and Metropolis (http://www.glasgowfilm.org/festival/whats_on/4482_sonic_cineplex) with Jeff Mills and some old German dude.

From reading the site the Wagner discussion is on the Saturday afternoon. with the Dredd screening at 23:30.

What certificate is Minty and the event. The GFF website says NC/18 which I took to mean they hadn't figured it out yet.
I am thinking of bringing Tiny Tips along - he's twelve- as he just got a camcorder and is keen on making his own films.
Would like to know if its suitable.
It's only 18 because we don't have a BBFC certificate. (Although I've read that you don't necessarily need a certificate, it's down to the local council)
Realistically it's something like a 12A, pushing a 15 for blood/gore.
I'm not sure what there position is on letting anyone under 18 in is, maybe Steve can find out.
I'm pretty sure it will be 18.
NC/ was probably incase I got it classified in time (which was something I spoke with them about), which I very much doubt I will, as I'm stacked at work. :|

Disappointingly, the 18/NC certificate they've given it is what the council have agreed and the venue will be very strict about enforcing it. So I can't bring Tiny Tips along.

That sucks. I'd always assumed the NC at festivals meant you could take anyone and they simply expected the sort of people who go to these events to be capable of exercising a bit of their own discretion in selecting material.
I think 18 is pretty common in these circumstances, to be on the safe side.
It only takes one person to complain about the content to cause the event a lot of problems.

Tip I can almost guarantee you will love the film. For you I would say avoid trading more anywhere. OK it is tomorrow so that should need easy!

Saw this tonight and thought it was great. Really impressive work all round. With the opening shot of MC1 really setting the standard for what follows and showing that you can bring it to the screen in all its glory. If I have one criticism it would be that the ugly, baldy mutie (who seemed vaguely familiar from somewhere) didn't get enough of a slapping.
Believe me that bald mutie did suffer for his art. Not only did he have to stand around dressed like that for ages in shitty weather he also really did get headbutted in the fight sequence :lol:

Like the Cosh says, the opening shot nailed MC1 and right away you knew that these guys had got it right.
Wonderful stuff, very impressed and look forward to seeing it again.

You have another fan here. It was great with some lovely suprises and I was most impressed with what you managed to get on screen with naff all budget.
I do wonder what DREDD 3D did with 50 million budget. The coke and hookers bill must have been phenomenal.

Can't blame him, it's pretty spectacular; typical though, he waits 17 years for a proper film and two show up at once.
You can really see the amount of work that went into it, it's very impressive and worth the wait, at least on this end.
No fault of the film but the only thing is once I experienced Urban as Dredd it's hard to imagine anyone else, but then again, it is
JUDGE MINTY and that's all that matters.
The best thing about it is it's a fan-film and a real-film - best of both worlds.
I can't help thinking I sound repetative saying how good this film is. But it is blindingly brilliant.
I would love a gn adaptation. My son wants a continuing strip done. Everyone I sawit with want more!!!
I'd like to see a Judge Minty story, or a story with some of the other characters from the film, in a small press publication such as Zarjaz.
