Title: What's up, everybody?
Post by: Harlock on 18 January, 2013, 01:06:03 PM
Just wanted to say, "hi!"

...and ask a question...

Okay, so I'm an American comicbook fan who's been aware of Judge Dredd since the 90s, but never really dove into the whole mythology.  But now, I'm finding myself a bit more interested.  And as someone who's always enjoyed Brian Bolland's covers for American comics, I'm probably a bit more interested in his work over that of other Dredd artists.  So if I were to try to get my hands on Bolland's Dredd material, what Complete Case Files would I need?

In the States, we're up to Complete Case Files 5 that includes the "Apocalypse War" storyline, btw.

Thanks in advance for your help!

How do Harlock, and welcome to the forum!

Compared to other artist's, Brian Bolland didnt actually produce a lot of Dredd strips - and the last work he did on Dredd was for the direct prequel to the Apocalypse War - Block Mania. So any of the first five Case Files will include his work.
Or, rather handily, IDW have just released a Judge Dredd: The complete Brian Bolland collection (http://forbiddenplanet.com/91506-2000ad-judge-dredd-the-complete-brian-bolland-hardcover/).
That should be easy to track down in the States, id imagine.

Yeah Judge Jack's pointed you in the right direction BUT might well be worth ya while checking out some of the Case File (say 2 or 5) and seeing what fantastic work there is by other artists.

Either way welcome aboard, have fun.

Thanks for the replies!

It seems I have another question:

As I've obviously been on the lookout for some of the finest "classic" Dredd stories, I've found mention of the "Democracy" and "Necropolis" storylines in quite a few "best of" lists.  So I'm thinking of collecting these Complete Case Files through the end of those tales...

Now, since we Americans are only up to Complete Case Files 5, wihch includes the "Apocalypse War" story?  What Complete Case Files would include these two stories ("Democracy" and "Necropolis" are from the mid-80s, I believe)?

Get Wagner and Diggle's Judge Dredd / Aliens: Incubus, too. Often overlooked book that is perfect to introduce Americans to Dredd's world a bit more.
