Title: New to the board (not to 2000AD)
Post by: Grobbendonk on 13 March, 2013, 12:10:11 PM
Hi all
Just a little bit of an introduction...
I started reading 2000AD in the 500s I guess (I was around 11/12 at the time). Remember loving Bad Company, Slaine, etc.  Read till around Prog 1030, and during that time collected back issues with a religious zeal! Then had a mad moment of "grown-upness" when I needed money more than thrill power (or so I foolishly believed) and I stopped reading and sold the lot (Progs 2 - 1030, with only about 120 omissions) for £500! In the meantime I picked up and dropped a few american comics. Pah!
Picked it up again at Prog 1776 and must say I'm loving it again! Nostalgia! And new thrills! Now delivered electronically to my laptop! The Future is here!
Loving Dredd (of course), and the Savage reboot is amazing! Still hate Flesh (always did), and not impressed with Red Seas, but these are minor flies in an awesome ointment :)
All hail Tharg!  I shall never stray again.
Benjamin

Welcome back BJ, it's a familiar story! As well as new thrills, Rebellion have been churning out colleceted editions of recent and classic thrills, so you've plenty of opportunity to catch up on stuff you've missed.

(Ps I agree with you on Flesh ... SSSSH!  ;) )

Welcome aboard.
I would have started collecting 2000AD around the same time as you (give or take a year), though I was 5 or 6 years old at the time- and am still waiting for my 'mad moment of grown-upness'!

Hmm, I'm sure I'm being a bit stupid but I can't seem to post in other threads or find a way to access my 'profile'. Do I have to do something (dance a jig in a Judge Quincy outfit?) to get full access?

Yup that's it exactly. Dance, boy, dance!

No, once you've made a few posts in other areas so the mods can tell you're not a spambot or loon you'll be fully activated soon enough. Give 'em a prod if that hasn't worked after a wee while.

Not you don't get in until you admit you love Flesh and Red Seas... honest ...

Well, The Red Seas at least... ;-)
I'll fix it this evening. If I don't PM me a reminder.

Heh, thanks. I look forward to full access. I promise not to use my new freedom to denegrate Flesh or The Red Seas.  Which great power comes great responsibility as someone once said  :D
