Just confirmed that Ian Gibson will be attending :o
http://www.facebook.com/BristolExpo
I reckon you'll be at the front of the queue for a sketch or two from him!
I will not leave his side - thank fuck I'm booked for both days. Are you coming along?
Doubt it but then again I did turn up for the evening last year and I only decided to do that on the day
Just had a horrible thought - what if he's only signing and not sketching :'(

Then tell him you've legally changed your name to a headshot of Dredd, like Prince did with that weird symbol thingy..
I may actually use that one
Everyone of you that go from here please tell him that we miss his work in the Prog and need him to return.
V
Don't worry if you offer him money he will be sketching..............
These two Halo Jones prints are now up for pre-registering. Works of art :o

Just you and me Stront - fuck the rest of them.
I wasn't going, but Ian Gibson being there may well change my mind.
Luckily my wife is SUCH a nerd, that for her birthday present this year she's asked me to get tickets and a hotel for the weekend
So we'll be there. Already making up my counter banners for the anticipated protests ;)
Had my hotel booked for months, so I'm definitely turning up like the bad penny I am.
Sadly I won't be going to Exposed Bristols, sorry, Bristol Expo.

You MAY finally reunite with the Frankum by all accounts :D
I've promised to take some folk to a heavy metal night and feed them cider. SO THAT WILL OCCUR.

Oh, Fri or Sat I'm good for both and blend well at Metal events.
Frankum after all these years...
Tempted. I did promise Mr.H.Flint that I would ply him with Absinthe to acquire a fully deranged sketch.
Are you saying his usual stuff is only partially deranged?
Blimey.

Fixed that for you. :-)
Cheers!

Good idea!! Henry is a dab hand at the lady nozzles.

Come Hell or high water, I
will find a way to work that phrase into a conversation...
Cheers!

Relatively. I am however, entirely enamoured with his work in "Broadcast; The TV Doodles of Henry Flint". My plan is to ambush Henry with a large drawing pad and a bottle of gen-you-wine absinthe, sit him down and ply him with absinthe and rollies until he has filled one whole page with insanity. Then, once all of the brain bending gibber juice is gone and the page is filled, I shall consider our one sided agreement to be at an end and he can cheerfully pass out.
These schemes hardly ever work out as you'd hope though.
Please don't break him...
Artists and Absinthe is a bad idea, he might end up cutting one of his ears off, it happens you know!
Actually Absinthe and anyone is a bad idea, it's bloody 'orrible.
...but it makes the heart grow fonder.
Info on the 2000AD panel - the largest one yet??
Return of the 2000AD Mega Panel!
After the success and huge fun of last year, we are very pleased to announce the return of the 2000AD Mega Panel!
with Ian Gibson, Michael Carroll, David Hine, Boo Cook, Mike Collins, Rob Williams, Ben Willsher, Henry Flint, David Roach & John Higgins (and maybe more to come!)
This panel will be on Saturday 11th May at 5pm in the main panel room in the Ramada Venue.
This is this weekend - after many years of having my wallet utterly buggered I will be officially boycotting the Ramada bar. Chockfull of comic types it is, but I lives in this city and at a stones throw there are a trillion better and cheaper places to drink.
PM me if y'need my number for cider and rambling comictalk purposes! Also - I wrote a big long blog on The Psychedelic Journal of Time Travel page about things to check out and people I like - - > http://thepsychedelicjournal.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/pre-bristol-expo-comics-to-buy.html
Thanks to the fantastic Mike VK, I will be carried down to Bristol in stately fashion in his lovely landrover on Sunday.
I've been polishing my helmet in anticipation.

Filthy boy!
I won't be at this one, but have a great time everyone and post loads of pics!
Folks, if anyone out there wants me to bring any copies of Zarjaz, Dogbreath, FutureQuake or Something Wicked to the gig let me know by mail or PM by Friday night so I can sort you all out.
Cheers
OK... Leonia and I are pretty much all set and ready to go! Flight's first thing tomorrow morning, getting into Bristol airport at about 07:00!
Really looking forward to this!

Well done for keeping the judicial end up, Monkey!
I'm particularly taken with the battering of the wizard franchise.
You should've kicked that wizard in the face, once he was down ;)
Unlicensed Psyker!
Yeah, being Judge Pal is a lot of fun.
I'm glad I made it on the Sunday. It was a close thing, but Mike VK saved the day.
I'm still gutted I missed the panel on Saturday though. I barely got a chance to catch up with Iz and Stacey the day after, so I'm still a bit in the dark as to how it went. It was recorded though, so hopefully we'll find out in due course! Kudos to them for managing such a large group.
It went really well, hopefully the recording worked! Ten creators in the end, the room was absolutely packed out with people sitting on the floor and standing at the back. I was so chuffed for the guys on the panel for that turnout.
Yes sorry - barely got to say hello eh! Glad you had a good day though :-D
Great pics :)

Yeah, it was all a case of squeezing as much as possible in, wasn't it? I was off on patrol, you were getting that sketch done etc. I caught a glimpse of it in progress later in the day - it looked really cool. I asked Connor to do me one too - hopefully I'll be getting the finished sketch in the post shortly!
Considering that was only my third convention, of any type, ever (the others were LSCC and Cardiff Con this year) it was so nice that people were recognising me and coming up to say hello. It's so weird thrusting myself into this environment with not a clue what to expect, yet everyone being so cool, mellow and friendly. Meeting random folk from this forum was such a plus this weekend, as was other cosplayers from previous cons coming over and having a chat. I also am being recognised by proxy - a couple of stall owners asked me 'Where's Burdis?' and then chatting with me in his absence. ;) That was all rather nice.
I still am feeling like a bit of a stranger to it all, an interloper if you like. I know nothing of how these things usually go, what expectations are, who is who in the grand scheme of things etc etc (for example, I only found out a month ago that Rich and Iz are involved in ECBT2000AD), yet from this Bristol Con I started to get the sense it'll all be cool.
I quite like this one. A quick stop at Shapiro's for a synthi synthi-caff. ;)
It would help if I included the pic, eh? ::)

Really enjoyed Bristol. Seeing as a lot of online people seemed to have written it off it was really busy and all the creators and retailers I spoke to said they were doing good business, loads better than last year
2000AD panel was awesome, had loads of fun in the pub and managed to hang out with a few 2000AD creators without any of them glassing me
job done
I second that.
Really nice to meet a couple of friendly boarders. Strontium 71 and saltersmash (bet ive got those wrong)
2000ad artists were all lovely. Flint was drawing genius stuff dragging a tippex pen down a ruler on dredd visor. I got a beautiful david roach sketch and ian gibson struggled through saturday with some part of his anatomy broken. I really liked the hosting of the 2000ad panel - forgive my last question, it was taken seriously when i was asking about a comedy crossing over of 3 strips in 2k. But dear god any question was better than the guy before me who asked the artists and writers how much they earned!!!
It did make me listen to the egbt2000ad podcasts and really what a good job they do.
Bristol was bloody brilliant - it was really cool to see people & see the Shed so stuffed, and I'm dead chuffed how well the panel went, given that it was the biggest to date.
Thank you matty_ae for asking your question straight after THAT one :/ could have been a very awkward ending otherwise :)
