Title: CorelDRAW to Illustrator CS3
Post by: Bhuna on 05 June, 2013, 10:05:57 AM
Hi guys.

Is it possible to change a CorelDRAW file to an AI CS3 file. Has anyone even got CorelDRAW??

I want to use a Mythos Beer logo for a t-shirt but I can only find this one which is half decent.

Cheers.

CorelDRAW will output standard EPS files, which Illustrator should open without issue. Illustrator is also pretty good with PDFs.

Cheers Jim.

I've tried to open it with my version of AI (cs3) and on our studios mac with AI (cs3) to but there is an error.

'The file "mythos.cdr" is in an unknown format and cannot be opened'

Strange!  :(

Save it from Corel as an EPS file. not CDR.

No, you'll never be able to open a .cdr file with anything other than CorelDraw. Sorry, I assumed you still had access to CorelDraw so you can export/save as either EPS or PDF, which Illustrator will be able to cope with.

Apparently, Illustrator CS5 will open files from CorelDraw 10 or before, so you might be able to swing an Illustrator upgrade?

This website (http://www.filespazz.com/) claims to convert .cdr files to .eps files, which Illustrator will definitely cope with, so that might be worth a go.

Cheers
