Well it would seem Mark Millar is the next of the UK's comic hierarchy to kowtow to the Queen and get this establishment award.

If it makes him happy, well done him.
Well done him indeed.
Well where is John Wagner's? Pat Mills's? Alan Moore's?
Sort it out your Majesty!
Pat Mills and Moore I guess wouldn't be too bothered about it! ;)
Moore has already said he'd decline an honour if offered.
Cheers
Jim
And from that recent article where Pat Mills spoke of Defoe and The Levelers I could tell he just adored the monarchy.
I'm always vaguely disappointed when someone I like accepts an honour. So, in the latest round, PJ Harvey's gone down in my estimation while Millar has no perceptible change.

...
Yep, got to agree with
The Cosh here.....
When
Mick Jagger accepted his honour from The Queen...I couldn't believe it !!......Rock & Roll ...Rebels...etc... Bahh !! But, I suppose that's what he always wanted though, to be finally accepted into the establishment.... :'(
Glad
Keff still doesn't give a 'shit' about it all though !!.........:D
I know it's wrong, but every time I hear Millar's name in the same sentence as Morrison's, all I can think is:
"Me and Gwant -click- Me and Gwant -click-'".
Curse you Thaaaaarg!
As to you subjects and the dispensation of feudal favour from on high, life is much better in a Republic: we only have to hear about how our rulers have rewarded the faithful when there's a Tribunal.
I know that CBE stands for Crawler to the British Establishment, but what does MBE stand for? ( don't say the Queen ;))

Didn't know that was what
CBE stood for !!...
As far as I'm aware,
MBE stands for
Member of the Bastard Elite !!
It certainly won't hurt his career in America (and now he's getting more and more involved in the film industry) - they love that shit.

That is so true !!!
Anything connected with British Royalty, and they virtually 'fall over' themselves to get a piece......So 'career wise' probably a great move !!...
How does the SNP stand when it comes to the monarchy? Genuine question in case people think I'm stirring by the way. I have a preconceived notion, but that might be inaccurate. If independence was achieved would they retain Her Maj as head of state (could they, would they?)

Presumably, if Scotland stayed in the Commonwealth, they could retain the Queen as figurative head of state while exercising complete political independence.
Cheers

Right you are too. A tiny bit of effort on my part get exactly that answer as their official policy.

I also don't really care......I mean, it's not going to affect me in any way whatsoever.....
BUT....I'm with
The Cosh on this one and will also say that I'm disappointed when people I admire, for their usually anti-establishment views, 'cow down' and
tug the forelock in order to get a 'shiny bauble'......
The link shows some of the obvious 'establishment lackies' / contenders, and a couple of surprises.....Worth a listen anyway....

Came to say this, saw you'd found it out. I'm far more anti-monarchy (a lot) than I am pro-independence (not very much at all) so I'm not sure where this leaves me.
Yep, got to agree with The Cosh again... Not 'stalking' you mate, honestly...
I'm also ( very ) anti monarchy, and ( eventually ) pro independence, but I don't think we ( as a Nation ), are quite ready yet.....
And if the ( mostly ) 'bunch of tubes' we have in Hollyrood are the 'best' we have at the moment, I think we should wait for quite a few more years.......
Goes off muttering about 'self serving' politicians of all stripes and dishonest practices of our 'elected' representatives...
Cosh and Sidshow up a tree, K I S S I N G
^ this........
