Ridiculously excited about the Mk1 Lawgiver.
One of my birthday prezzies to myself I feel.
Dunk!
Do Planet Replicas not have rights to the movie but rights to the comic, so are getting around that by creating props for the comic sequel to the movie coming out in the Meg ?
Strontium dog and death good be good anyone know how long till the wave is out ?
I've just ordered the new Dredd key ring, I suggest you lot do too!
For the love of Grud, will someone tell me what the Mk I Lawgiver will bloody cost!
Cheers
Jim
No news on pricing, but I've seen it's going to be out mid-September.

Saw this at SDCC. It's much larger than it looks.

Not long now :D

Cheers!

I'd forgotten about that Arms Buyers Almanac - but I don't think I'd ever taken in the ramifications of that "leathers in blue or black" line, suggesting that the proper uniform can be either colour.
It's a hard one as blue often translates as black in comic art, doesn't it? (For ages I though Batman's cloak was blue for example.)
I remember discussing* the uniform on this board and someone stated that since Carlos Ezquerra tends to paint the uniforms black that's the colour it is meant to be.
However, just the other day I remember reading one of the Case files (I think it was 3) and it featured a story where Dredd got transported into the future and encountered vampire judges who (I believe) were nicknamed 'the blues' by the surviving populace...
Of course the uniform colour could have changed.
I guess either interpretation is valid since I don't think there's a definitive answer in the comic (unless the above counts).
*or maybe I just read the discussion. I think it was me who brought it up but it was a good while back.

That's was only so Wagner & Grant could work an appalling, punning reference to the then very popular TV show
Hill Street Blues into
City of the Damned.
Tharg answered a readers letter on this topic some time around the introduction of painted colour to the comic, and explained that the leathers were always supposed to be black, and that blue was only used as a substitute for black when the repro was too shÃte to do anything else. I assume it would have been a source of heated debate in the Command Module around that time, as artists were having to decide whether to keep the scheme they were used to or paint the leathers the way they knew they were supposed to be.
The blue and yellow/orange scheme actually looks really great on the printed page because of the complementary nature of those colours (http://willkempartschool.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/colourwheel01.gif), which is why artists like Bisley continued with it even after the advent of painted art, but it would look very silly in real life.
I remember Tharg answered that letter by saying Dredd's uniform was blue in the same way Superman's hair is blue - i.e. not, it just has a blue highlight to give it a bit of colour and flair.
Fair enough! I gladly stand corrected. That certainly makes sense.
