Title: Comic Heroes give in to reader pressure
Post by: COMMANDO FORCES on 30 August, 2013, 08:28:07 PM
HUZZAH!

It seems that as of issue 21, out on the 18th October, the wallet and all the crap will be no more

In issue 20 on page 61 is an ad for the next issue and it says the following:-

The 'BIG' issue
Batman/Superman: together forever - in comics and movies

Big Creators!
John Romita on Spider-Man
Bob Layton on Iron Man
Chris Claremont on X-Men

PLUS!
Death's Head, Doc Savage, Marvel Team-Up and the rise of digital comics

AND COMIC HEROES IS GETTING BIGGER TOO!
More pages! (We're going up to 164 packed pages of features and strip!)

Better paper! (We're going glossier, heavier, taller and wider!)
More feature! (More films, more TV, more comics, more everything!)

And more! There's no more wallet, but loads of amazing new regulars!

No info on if the price is staying the same but we'll find out when it hits the shops!

If it goes under a fiver, I'm interested.

If they have features on comics that aren't Big 2 crap, I', even more interested.

Yeah if that pulls the price down I'd defo be interested. Have my doubts it will, but we'll see.

have a sneaky feeling from their touting the 'coffee table' format that the price is going to stay the same.  Have to be honest, starting to waver on this.  Think I just skimmed through the last one and still haven't read it properly.  Not a good sign.  Not a patch on Dez Skinn's old tome (can't for the life of me remember the title!) :-[

Big Creators...

...talking about properties they haven't worked on for years.

Cheers!

Arh Comic's International. Used to LOVE that. When my comic reading fizzled out the first time in the early 90's it was my favourite read over any of the comics clinging on. As I slowly got back into reading comics again 10 years or so later the same was true.

Alas in this day and age it just didn't have a place I guess.

I'll bet the price will stay the same (the extras for this kind of thing add the perception of value but cost bugger all), the paper will probably get downgraded again within a few issues, and the page count is probably... fluid. Par for the course when mags need to change to bolst readership levels.

Still, if the content's good, the price isn't a huge concern; and you can always go digital to save a few quid.

Price is a huge concern for me, the last issues I saw was over €12, for a newstand magazine that IMO is too much. I'm not a big fan of US stuff, and the coverage of British and European is really bringing up the rear.
Good on the publishers for getting it out there, but the price is just too much for me.

I've picked this up a couple of times in the shop but the fact you can't really see what's in it and the £7.99 price tag put me off.  I think it is too expensive but I'm not expecting them to drop the price - the lack of wallet might mean I pick up odd ones that are of particular interest when I flick through.

I bought the most recent edition because the packet said GODZILLA/HOWARD THE DUCK/V FOR VENDETTA and David Lloyd/Al Ewing/Joe Hill, so it sounded a good read.

Nope I was wrong. Still not worth 8 quid. Bah!

At least from now on I can flick through to see how much I will read before purchasing.
