Well according to Bleeding Cool anyway.

Don't know owt about the author writing this but whatever happens lovely Glen Fabry cover.
So we have Dredd, Sinister Dexter and Rogue Trooper all things 2000ad must be going okay over at IDW and to start some wild speculation this is the same IDW that have just launched a TV division... well you never know...
Not familiar with the writer either, but artist Albert Ponticello did some fantastic art on Dial H so it's going to look great if nothing else.
And that Glen Fabry cover is lovely! :)

Shame about missing out Helm's 'eyes', though...
Cheers

I pointed out last night that Ryan Brown's contribution to this cover would, inevitably, be overlooked, but he painted over Glenn's greyscale, and it seems a shame to ignore that fact (which isn't to say that Glenn's greyscale drawing didn't look lovely - I'm sure it did, but pretty sure Ryan's contribution is huge, as it was on the Dredd year 1 covers he coloured over Greg Staples).

I didn't realise that either. A Great collaboration as is the Fabry one.
Yeah, I saw the pencils to (I think) Issue 2, and he did an amazing job on that.
Greg's been vocal on crediting him, but I don't think people really appreciate how much work he's been doing on these.
The writer handily provided a list of comics he thinks are good (http://www.brianruckley.com/2013/07/19/catching-up-with-comics/) so we can all make wild guesses about the direction in which he's thinking of taking the chips and their biological weapons platform. Other posts on his blog (http://www.brianruckley.com/) demonstrate an interest in future tech, movies about masterless samurai, WWII and the military vehicles thereof - all of which bode well.

Alas liking good comics and being able to write them are two very different things as many of us probably know!
Not too keen on that Helmet looks too 'turtle' like, however i did get this nice Rogue sketch recently:

from George 'Dode' Coleman
Ruckley's updated his blog (http://www.brianruckley.com/2013/10/23/and-now-im-writing-a-comic/) to assure everyone that he isn't just a jobbing hack:
QuoteAs visitors here may have noticed, I'm a fairly major comics fan. Unsurprisingly, I'm therefore pretty excited to be dipping my toes in those creative waters, especially since it's on a character I knew well in my youth. As a British kid who liked comics and SF, it goes without saying that 2000 AD was a biiiig deal to me way back then, and Rogue Trooper was one of my favourite strips. It's remained one of those I remember with the most affection, along with stuff like Dredd, Slaine and Nemesis. So all in all, fair to say I'm a happy chap with this turn of events
We discussed this series before, and I'm pretty sure the general consensus was one of 'cautious optimism'.
I know nothing about Ruckley, but am encouraged by the fact he's a fellow Squaxx.
Will defo give this series a shot- it's up to the creators to keep me on board.
So far the (non-reprint) IDW 2000AD stuff has a score of 2 very good (MAJD & Year One) vs 1 very bad (Dredd).
I'm rooting for a 3-1 score line.
Helmet's too big.
