Title: Wanted: Necropolis and Young Death GNs
Post by: The Enigmatic Dr X on 13 November, 2013, 09:44:31 AM
Does anyone have these for sale? I want to give them to my boy as a Christmas present.

If they are rare then let me know - I don't want to spend stupid money on them. Equally, I can't get away with getting something too dog-eared as he'll wonder why the Elves didn't make them new for him!

Also, could anyone tell me if there is a Necropolis collection that includes Dead Man and Countdown to Necropolis?

I've got Necropolis via Case Files 14 and also a Tales of the Dead Man, both for £21 via Amazon.

Still need a Boyhood of a Superfiend.

Young Death is available on eBay quiet frequently. I managed to pick up a copy just last week for under a fiver.

There's one on just now for £4.50. I've bid so you don't dare - you could be spoiling a little boy's Christmas!

Necropolis can be a tricky one.  The main parts of that story are:

The Dead Man
Tale of the Dead Man
Prologue Stories (Lethal Injection, Succession, Dear Annie)
Necropolis
Epilogue Stories (Theater of Death, Nightmares, Wot I Did)

Unfortunately, there is no one book that covers all of these.

Of the recent Rebellion trades you need 'Tales of the Dead Man' which contains the Dead Man story and then Case Files 14 contains Tale of the Dead Man, Prologue Stories and Necropolis itself.  To be ultra complete, Case Files 15 has the epilogue stories and there is some stuff at the end of Case Files 13 e.g. letter to Judge Dredd.

There is also the Hamlyn trade which is basically just the Necropolis main story.

Even older – there are also some Titan trades.  The Dead Man has its own trade and then Tale of the Dead Man and Prologue Stories are in Necropolis Book 1 and the main Necropolis story in Necropolis Book 2.

Your best bet might be to go with the recent Rebellion stuff, it is certainly the easiest to get hold of.  That said, a couple of folks have been offering the Hamlyn trade in the classifieds section recently.  The titan ones seem to be like rocking horse sh*t though and don't come up very often.

Thanks. Case Files + Tale of the Dead Man covers it, I think

It's not bad, creepy in places but just silly in others. It's been a long time since I read it last but I've recently given in and started buying the case files and wanted this to fill in some gaps so that's why I've bought it again.

Dr. X, did you manage to nab that copy of Young Death from eBay? There's another copy going if you haven't. I might get myself a copy soon, too busy with stuff I have at the moment!

Yep, I bought that one thanks. So the lad is getting the paperback of the first three Dark Judge stories (Death, Death Lives, Anderson) then Tale of the Dead Man, then Case Files 14. So he's up to speed for Dark Judgement

There are other Death/ Dark Judge stories between Necropolis and Dark Judgement. Think there is at least 'My Name is Death' and probably 'Chaos Day' (it has the Dark Judges in it for a bit). To be honest I think, as with most Dredd epics, they can be enjoyed on there own so I wouldn't feel like he HAS to read them but if he wants to get totally caught up there are more stories between Necroplis and Dark Judgment.

Thanks dodsy. There seems to be a wealth of Judge Death material which I haven't read before. I'll be sure to add them to my reading list!

He's read my My Name is Death and ill get the Judgements on Gotham out The Shed of Dredd for him.

Chaos Day is easy to explain. From a dark judge story point of view: pj maybe gets them m
