this is my first venture onto the message board, and i've been watching with interest over the last 8 months or so...
i started off on prog 1 many years ago (aged 7), and only abandoned 2thou at around issue 900 - a combination of student debts and the mag seemingly going through the motions (this has since been confirmed by the excellent and nostalgia inducing Thrill Power Overload series)
i came back with prog 1307- but at the time i didn't know why. i subscribed to both 2thou and the Meg on a whim and, although i felt a bit unlucky that it all happened half-way through stories, it felt very good to be back. feels quite like home.
I *was* a big fan of american comics, but as i've grown older they all seem irrelevent and geeky. 2thou doesn't feel like this. I'm not going to say i like everything (i don't), and i'm especially gutted to have missed the return of the VC's, but the mag is back to what it was.
a good read at good value - and long may it continue...
i look forward to participating on the board and the fact that editors, writers and artists participate also makes it something worthwhile
serious sh*t over
Welcome back!
It seems like you dropped out at the same stage as a lot of people, so don't feel bad.
It was a low point, but you should be able to get back issues fairly cheaply if you want them.
By the way, who are we supposed to think you're not?
- Trout
i'm not too sure yet - i'll let you know once i get my icon sorted
yttim
Er, isn't it obvious?
Er, isn't it obvious?
getting an icon sorted...? (well i'm doing it now) or who you're supposed to think i'm not?
Benefit of the doubt people.
This is a good place, let it stay welcoming.
yttim: Hop aboard and join in when you can.
rotts
welcome
get an icon yes.good idea.
any trouble ask here. someone will help.
come when ever you can. enjoy,
this is a great site.
we are a truly friendly bunch.
so Mr youthink' that is a strange user name, gonni let us in on the story?
as youve been watching for 8 months, you'll know what a friendly bunch everyone is.
"you'll know what a friendly bunch everyone is."
Apart from Jared Katooie that is. He is really scary and evil.
karne runs off and hides before Jared comes looking for him.
you'll know what a friendly bunch everyone is
the main thing i notice is that there's a real sense of community on the board, yet it doesn't seem to decend into fanboy territory... i guess i'm the same age as most of you and can therefore relate to all the stuff going on...
(i spent so long behind the couch, timidly waiting for the right moment to approach, and then that big nasty ukdane shatters my confidence with his quick and forceful response, sending me into hiding once more...)
no really, the banter has made me laugh out loud while browsing at work and i thought it would be nice to join in with people who don't think it weird that a 33yo likes this kind of stuff
(although every dredd collection i get is 'borrowed' by my dad)
laters, yttim
Welcome aboard, son.
Whilst thinking of something useful to say, i'm concerned that my spelling of the word ABOARD may be incorrect, so i'll leave it there...
Welcome. I'm new here too so I can vouch that they are indeed a friendly & welcoming bunch.
Cool icon y.t.t.i.m. We could do with a few more God stalking plumbers on the site.
you know, one of my biggest regrets was leaving a comic shop *without* purchasing the collected True Faith (not enough cash) and then going back the next week to find out that they'd only gone and bloody banned it
truly a highlight from a fantastic mag - that and 'the new adventures of adolf hitler'... classic
Oh and just to clarify, we're not all nice. Some of us are very mean and nasty and control all the chickens of the world with our demonic powers. However, the rest of them seem to be nice enough.
