Title: Invasion!/Gospel Crossover
Post by: davidblack on 02 February, 2014, 09:01:37 PM
I was looking at Comicvine, looting pictures for http://dreddalert.blogspot.co.uk/ (http://dreddalert.blogspot.co.uk/) and I discovered a strange phenomenon: apparently Bill Savage's fellow Resistance leader Roger Bacon crosses over into a surprising story:

You have to read between the lines a bit on the Roger Bacon biblical link but it is obviously -- obviously! -- based on the belief that Joseph of Arimathea founded a church in Glastonbury, Somerset, in the first century.

Roger Bacon is, of course, a descendant of Joseph and a part of the long and noble line of the Secret Order of Grail Guardians. Joseph's daughter married into the Bacon family, well-to-do pig farmers near what is now Burnham-on-Sea.

There, in Somerset, the Bacons have remained, their roots deeper than the oldest of oaks -- lonely, thankless sentinels on the windswept Mendips, forever vigilant, forever true to the vows made to Joseph on that fateful, terrible night nearly two millennia ago.

Parts of Christianity, as it spread into Western Europe, became angry towards the Order and the Bacons in particular, for their links to Christ begat much covetousness and spite. Such Christians tried to besmirch the Order and the Bacons whenever possible and lines like "Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion" and "do not throw your pearls before pigs" and "the demons came out of man and entered the pigs" because to creep, unwelcome, unheeded, into to the Bible.

Need I say more...

Roger Bacon: Grail Guardian, noble pariah and hero of the resistance – what a guy!
